Western Sydney region is a disaster. Nobody going to the games.
Gold coast sun's on field is a disaster.

Gws are a decent team on field and sun's regularly fill their stadium against the big teams even while their team gets smashed.

It's time to join the 2 and move GWS to metricon ASAP! The afl needs to stop losing money on these whales hand over fist

Lol. A better option would be to wind up the Suns and mark them as a failed experiment, University style. And then introduce a Tasmanian team, as should have always been done to begin with.

lol what? u wanna move a shit team to tassie, to play shit football, and ur still stuck with GWS not getting anyone to their games.

My point was we need to get rid of this Greater Western Sydney team, but the AFL wont while they have been getting into 2 prelims.
No Victorians or football family's would never move out to West Sydney because its a dump, where-as alot of them move to the gold coast to raise kids etc. the original reason why the AFL wanted a team up there.

Plus with 1 less team, you get a greater depth of talent at each club.

Plus Tassie is not an option for the AFL, as its not financially feasible, and its a market already owned by AFL and cricket.

The AFL should never of started 2 teams, dimitripoo's greatest mistake.

2018 Crowds Gold Coast:

Average home crowd Gold Coast Suns - 14,270

Average home crowd Gold Coast Titans - 9278

Gold Coast an NRL heartland gets less supporters to watch an NRL game than an AFL game. This is why the AFL is their and never going to leave. Imagine if the AFL had a team that where actually decent on the field?

Take off your biased collingwood hat for a second, and just look at the figures.

Bellerive Oval:
2018 Average: 10,730

Won't happen but it would be best. Same thing with GWS.

I do think it’s ideal to have an even number of teams, though, if possible.

I totally get the AFL’s reasoning as to why they expanded where they did. It’s about money. But you can’t buy passion, as the crowd figures for even an otherwise successful team like GWS show. A team from each of the NT and Tasmania, on the other hand, would bring that in spades. Obviously GWS and the Suns are here to stay, but I hope that there’s a prospect of 19th and 20th teams based in those locations.

I cant see the AFL giving up on both teams (or either team) any time soon.

And now ... wait for it ...they want retention allowances / priority picks and umpiring concessions

(ok... I made up the bit about umpiring concessions)

18 teams is too many for this competition. The effect that the inclusion of Gold Coast and GWS has had is that the talent pool has become diluted.

16 teams was the optimal number. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if both the Suns and Giants were removed from the competition.

Agree. They've invested too much money for it to fail now.
