Post subject: Copeland Trophy form guide at Mid Year | |
|
All speculative thinking I guess but thought I would try and run a mid year Copeland Trophy firm guide for our top 10 best performed.
1. Grundy
2. Sidebottom
3. Treloar
4. Phillips
5. Pendlebury
6. Crisp
7. Howe
8. Thomas
9. Scharenberg
10. Hoskin Elliott

I'd probably have Phillips 2nd.
One of my favourite players this season is Josh Thomas. Just goes about his business, snags a couple of goals a week, does his job, no fuss. Very reliable. Wouldn't be surprised to see him top 5. _________________ "The night is a very dark time for me" Chaz Michael Michaels |

Found it tough to separate Grundy vs Sidebottom. Reckon Grundy has only had 1 dud quarter for the year (injury affected against Tigers). _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

Interesting post, and broadly agree with your top 10 and top 5. I think i’d have :
1. Grundy
2. Flipper (the new Dane Swan)
3. Treloar
4. Sidebottom
5. Crisp
6. Howe
7. Pendlebury
8. Hoskin-Elliott
9. Scharenberg
10. DeGoey
JT has been really good each week, but he’s more of a finisher than a pay maker. JDG has actually turned a few games for us, so I had him ahead. I think Crisp is our most underrated player.
By year end, barring further injury, Taylor Adams will be top ten. His game yesterday was a ball-tearer. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

No love for Dunn from anyone? He's been pretty solid, I reckon! _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I have Grundy leading.
Phillips a clear second.
Treloar and Sidebottom fighting it out for third.
Pendles fifth. |

I think the 83 vote lead Sidey got in the early games while Phillips was still working out how to kick it to the ones wearing black and white (which happened in round 7) would probably see him well clear. Grundy should be leading but the coaches seem to be more impressed by Sidey most weeks, so I suspect that will be reflected in the Copeland voting. At the moment, Sidey should have about 15 Brownlow votes in the bank - he’s been BOG for us about every second game. |

I tell ya what, it's pretty hard to call.
Brodie would be leading, Pendles, Sidey, Adam and the big improver, Crisp (his disposal is excellent)would be on his hammer!
There's another half dozen within a vote or 2. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

If you see the coaches votes as a guide then Sidey would likley be narrowly in front of Grundy with Phillips Trelaor Pendles not far behind.
If I was asked to vote now I would have Grundy winning followed by Pendles Sidey Howe Phillips Treloar
Considering only half the season has been played there's a long way to go but for me I'm happy that at various times this season we have had many different players step up and play a vital role in assisting the team win games when in the past few years there's only even been 3/4 players you could count on to do that |
