Hell, this season is crazy. Dockers just defeated Adelaide Crows by 3 points. Either this means that our victory against Adelaide was less meaningful than we thought, OR...our easy victory against Fremantle was more meaningful than we thought, OR..neither of these options!!
This is a season where the usual empirical based logic doesn't apply.
As for tomorrow... If our midfield (the entire 11 of them: Tom Phillips, Jack Crisp, WHE, Sidey, Pendles, JDG, Levi Greenwood, JT, Adam Treloar and of course Brodie Grundy) come to play at their best level, we will win. Their powerful forward line won't be supplied.
What has driven our improvement this year is the massive upsurge of our midfield, which has become a deadly attacking machine as well as a well knit unit of defensive pressure. There is so much flexibility available as well. So, if Oliver needs to be quelled, put Greenwood on him.
I like our chances, given current form and the evident self-confidence with which we are playing. Not underestimating Melbourne though, who are likewise confident. It will be a titanic struggle.

I'd be putting Greenwood on Oliver or Jones tomorrow.

Oliver. He sets things up with in-close handball. Shut him down, you cut down the supply to there mids.

Melbourne has kicked 100 points or more in last six game —they seem a very proficient team scoring

To win this we are I suspect needing to kick at least 20 goals to be in the hunt if they are on song

Wonder are they as proficient at defending

Not necessarily. Our defensive pressure and structure has been fantastic this year, due to the high degree of synchronization we have achieved with our midfield and defence.
This will be the key I guess. Defensive pressure (ie pressure on the contested ball at all times) and being at the contest. If we get these two right tomorrow, our offensive skill will win, and won't necessarily require 20 goals.

Good point —-keep them to a lower score than they have been used to

Yes I reckon we can achieve that whilst our forwards and mids do the job

🤪🤪 Why didn’t I think of that 😳

^^On the stats the Dees don't score much more heavily than we do:

Goals per game:
Melbourne: 15.9 (1st)
Collingwood: 13.6 (4th)

Interestingly, the Dees have not lost a game when scoring 100 or more and have not won when scoring less than 100.

We have won just once when scoring under 100 and not lost when scoring over.

Against; Footscray, Adelaide , Carlton, GC , StK and the scum..... wow wee as BT would say.
I could put a side together from my local bus stop, play those 6 sides and kick 16 goals a game Cool

Hopefully we turn this game into an exorcism pretty quickly, walk these demons straight off the G. Josh Thomas to get off the leash and kick five. 25 CP for JDG around the middle!!!

In my Opinion I think Melbourne will just be too good for us.

Struggle to see how we stop there Tall Forward Line as we have some Undersized KPD's.

Love to see us Cause the Upset but I highly Doubt it.

With it Being the Big Freeze get use to hearing a lot of Free Kick Melbourne just like how the Umps Screwed us last Year in this Match

My Tip:

Melbourne by 35 points
