Craig Thompson has been found guilty.

Now he has been tried in a court he ought to be punished for using union members money (unless of course he is found not guilty on appeal)

And another "independent" is next up. No names, but his initials are Geoff Shaw.

Only if it was somehow given to the members, not the union. I have the impression that particular HSU branch seems terminal, both in NSW and Vic.

And I do love the deflection there WPT, nice touch. Except he's not an independant and never was really. He was elected as a Labor politician. He may have moved to the cross benches during the investigation but was elected as Labor and unsuccessful in his bed to win the seat as an independant.

So really, he's an Ex union official, Ex Labor elected politician and failed independent. Wink

Faced with the mounting evidence, the Gillard government was forced to banish Thomson to the cross benches. But it continued to take his vote and on one occasion paid his legal fees of $150,000 to avoid him becoming a bankrupt.

Thompson was a Union Official who fraudulently used a work based credit cards for his own personal use.

Thompson committed his crimes when he was a union leader.

Thompson did not commit his crimes when he became an ALP Politician.

When charges were laid Thompson was innocent until proven guilty.

He lied to his leader & the party & Prime Minister Gillard

Thompson was asked to leave / left the ALP.

Thompson became an independent & was disendorsed by the ALP.

Thompson was found guilty as an independent, as a non ALP member & as anyone found guilty by a court of law should face the "appropriate penalty".

No deflection. A statement of fact. (Although the thread titile was there to amuse)

I have no issue with any of this apart form the fact of his fraudulant use of other people's money.

Yep. We'll see how long No 2 wife sticks around now. He's pretty much unemployable in any role he may be qualified to do.

Interesting, isn't it.

When one person on the left of politics steals money from the hated bastard unions, taking not one cent of public money, it's a massive headline.

When multiple people on the right of politics steal money from the public purse, a lot more of them and a lot more money, it's of no consequence. We don't even prosecute them. When they get caught, it's smack hands and pay the money back quietly please.

What a farnarkling disgraceful double standard.

Sure, prosecute Thompson. No argument there from me. But when are we going to start prosecuting the cheating bastards in the Liberal Party, including both the Prime Minister and the Attorney General, for their massive frauds committed on the taxpayer?

Not so. He is perfectly qualified to hold high office in the Liberal Party. On the other hand, I admit that he hasn't yet successfully defrauded the taxpayer of anything, so maybe they'd regard him as just a talented amateur in the minor leagues, not one of the seasoned pros like Brandis, Abbott, Randall, Joyce, and Somlyay.)

Yes, when is the verdict on that other thief, Abbott, due?

Correction: Thompson did not commit most of his crimes when he was an ALP member.

Naughty boy, should be punished now that he has been found guilty. With friends like him who needs....

More material for the writers of Rake. If you (anyone) hasn't seen the new series, it's a ripper. Check out episide 1 on iView from last week - a rip snorter of a season starter. Episdoe 2 was pretty darn good too.
