Going for the trifecta - racial, sexual and religious harassment.

I don't think religion is involved. A badly worded sentence there. Note the word "both". And I think the motivation for the alleged bullying (let's call it) was racial; it's just that verbal bullying is by default always sexual (these kids don't bother with originality), whatever its motivation.

An ex-player who wasn't good enough to succeed in the AFL looking to make some cheap money out of an organization (the AFL) that has done everything to cater for minority groups and weed out racism from the game.

Blimey. The AFL does;t have to nor should have a quota system. If you are not good enough that is it. The AFL provides guidelines. They do not police the bloody changerooms. Anything said in there that is not right should be dealt by the coaches or the players through the AFLPA. On the field the umpires police it.

Was that about the time a 13 year old girls was held up for public ridicule for calling Goodes an ape.

Wilkinson is tilting at windmills.

If this chap has suffered harassment and his employer (the AFL) failed in it's duty of care then he's got a right to seek compensation.
I get that.
What I don't get is the claim for future earnings.
If you're cut from an AFL team and no other team then takes you on what future earnings are you expecting?

I wonder whether in legal terms it's the AFL or GCS who should be more responsible. In practical terms, it seems standard to go for the bigger target because you might actually get something out of them. No good pursuing paupers, for example.

I don't know the detail behind the claim (the court can determine that) but how often does an individual fail to adapt to a system and then turn round and blame his failure on the system rather than take individual responsibility for his failure? Not sure the years he is claiming he experienced locker room racism at the Gold Coast Suns but assuming Rodney Eade was his senior coach, I can't imagine Rodney Eade would have allowed any racial vilification to have occurred on his watch.

I don't understand how he got that bench-press record (160kg). A big surprise, because my biggest football memory of him suggested the opposite.

Quite interesting...

No the toxic culture was going gang-busters under McKenna [and Ashcroft], who had little to no idea about much at all. Eade was on the mother of all hidings to nothing trying to get that rabble competitive in under three seasons at the helm, from 2015-2017.

4 players with cocaine addiction under their reign; two of which were traded at the end of 2015, and are still playing AFL, another returned to rugby union, and another coaching in the lower QAFL leagues.
