Many of those on Nick’s would no doubt be aware that despite our good form, we have been regularly beaten in the clearances especially last night against the Bears.

My thoughts are that with Treloar, Sidebottom, Adams, C Brown, Thomas etc... being vertically challenged and lacking in brutish bodies, we need to bring Sier into the side. His form and body seem to be strong and at an all time high and the time is now!

What a bonus if he was to come in and get 20+ possessions, plenty of those being contested and complement our other mids such as:

Pendles
DeGoey
Steele
Treloar
Wells
C Brown
Thomas
Aish
Greenwood
Varcoe
Phillips

Good depth 😁

Clearance Problems?

Total Clearances - Lions 37, Pies 48
Centre - Lions 15, Pies 21
Stoppages - Lions 22, Pies 27

Was there some other type of clearance they beat us on?

Also currently ranked 6th for clearances.

Have I missed something?

At best, that's a 'glass half empty' interpretation. We won most of the clearances.

Additionally, we're ranked equal 5th in the competition for average clearances: https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_team_rankings

I really don't see how we can possibly have problems with clearances?

I fail to see how a first game player in Sier is going to solve our clearance problems. By all means bring him into the senior side if there's somebody to make way for him. But expecting him to play well from day one is going to bring disappointment for a few people who are going to bemoan his selection in a similar way they have been complaining about the selections of Blair, Mayne, Langdon and Phillips.

Two different body types. de Goey is closest to Greenwood and Kirby. They are more barrel chested. Sier is much more streamlined. More upright than Pendles who looks a little stooped when standing next to Sier. Both the same height though. If you want to know what a perfect posture looks like, Sier is that classic example. Sier is one of the lucky ones who will go through life without a hint of any back problems when he leaves football.

Is there a “joke” emoticon I needed to use?

Possibly the OP meant centre clearances where we have lost that count in 4 of the 7 games.

Well, that’s barely possible, I suppose - but he probably wouldn’t then have said “especially last night against the Bears”?

Look at the stats for the Richmond game. We were smashed at clearances.

On Nick's, where dramatic overreactions are par for the course, yes. You probably need one.

IIRC, he”s had an operation on his back. Last year maybe?

I'd be interested to see those... especially broken down into first 3 quarters and last quarter.

When they played on each other, JDG looked like a slightly pudgy dwarf.
