So most of us here think that letting Daisy go to carlton was a blessing. Believe it or not it cost us a flag. You dont believe me? Well here goes.

1. We let Daisy go to Carlton as a restricted free agent.
2. We got a compensation pick for losing him (pick 11).
3. We then traded some picks including pick 11 to WCE for pick 6 (part of that trade was based on an assurance that we not take Dom Sheed).
4. WCE used pick 11 to take Dom Sheed.

Dom Sheed is the <snip> who benefited from the illegal block by Rioli and kicked the goal that cost us the flag!!!

Daisy Thomas, the gift that keeps giving.

Flawed theory
We would have Daisy taking a spot in the team and probably never gotten to GF. Plus who did we get for pick 6?

Ah nope. WCE would have taken Sheed at 6 anyway but thought he would be available at 10, the only concern was us. Imagine if we had picked him after the deal was done, that would have been hilarious.

part of the swap was a promise not to take Sheed, all but assuring them of getting him.

As noted above, this is obviously just light humor (and yes, a 12yo son of a carlton buddy sent this to me). Thought those who hadnt seen it would get a chuckle.

the other one they sent me was an add confirming Australia Post as Carlton's new sponsor with the tag being that its a perfect union because neither organization delivers on the weekend.

Do you have a link to your Ch. 7 news clip? I wanted to watch it!

(Chartered a jet? I thought you came on a regular commercial flight.)

Here's Hines ineptitude for this draft:

1 Tom Boyd Greater Western Sydney Eastern U18 2013
2 Joshua Kelly Greater Western Sydney Sandringham U18 2013
3 Jack Billings St Kilda Oakleigh U18 2013
4 Marcus Bontempelli Western Bulldogs Northern U18 2013
5 Kade Kolodjashnij Gold Coast Launceston 2013
6 Matthew Scharenberg Collingwood Glenelg 2013
7 James Aish Brisbane Lions Norwood 2013
8 Luke McDonald North Melbourne Werribee 2013
9 Christian Salem Melbourne Sandringham U18 2013
10 Nathan Freeman Collingwood Sandringham U18 2013
11 Dom Sheed West Coast Subiaco 2013
12 Ben Lennon Richmond Northern U18 2013
13 Patrick Cripps Carlton East Fremantle 2013

and deeper:

65 Tom Langdon Collingwood Sandringham U18 2013

74 Jeremy McGovern* West Coast West Coast Rookies 2013

77 Jonathon Marsh Collingwood East Fremantle 2013

87 Sam Dwyer* Collingwood Collingwood Rookies 2013

Pick 13 - Patrick Cripps.

12 picks prior that in retrospect a disaster compared to that.

If Shaz doesn't do his knee who knows what would have happened GF day.

If anything that top 13 has 2 genuine superstars, 2 above average, 8 good solid players and 2 absolute stinkers.

Rookies are straight up pot luck. Marsh looked like he was going to be anything, Dwyer was more than a handy pickup.

Lost the GF to the best team on the day.

^ On Dwyer: Yes, remember that game against Geelong, where a loss seemed likely around three-quarter time until Dwyer lifted the team over the line.
