streets ahead of any other 2017 draft pick.
a real level head for a youngster, with that and guidance during his career we should have a lot of joy watching this guy. I know I am already.
be honest. who thought we would pick him up? I thought fogarty was our man last year.

I think Sam Murray would also be up there as one of our best recruits - he filled a specific need and has surprised everyone. Watching both him and Stephenson take the game on is exciting!!

The prospect of how good he will be once he's added a few muscles to his thin frame is positively scary.

By the way, our current list comprises several top 10 draft picks. From memory (I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong) they are:

De Goey - Pick 5

Aish - Pick 5

Scharenberg - Pick 6

Stephenson - Pick 6

Moore - Pick 8

Plus we got Grundy as a late first round draft pick.

I counted 17 first round picks on our list a while ago.
Well, I think it was 17 from memory.
Can't be bothered checking that fact again.
However, it is an interesting stat if my memory is correct.

Aish was Pick 7

Certainly better than Moore.
Although different players.
As for Grundy ....yeah I reckon so.
Grundy is an A grader but I reckon Stevo could be A plus.

Just a couple of extras-

Pendles - Pick 5
WHE - Pick 4
Adams - Pick 13 (close to top 10)
Dunn - Pick 15 (close to top 10)
Treloar - would have been 1 or 2 - priority GWS selection
Wells - Pick 2
Varcoe - Pick 15 (close to top 10)
Sidey - Pick 11 (close to top 10)
Reid - Pick 8

I'm sure there are others?

Maybe better than Moore and that depends where the game is headed.

The game starts in middle and I would sooner have the best young ruckman in the comp over Stephenson IF I was forced to choose between either.
Thankfully, we don’t have to.

Having said that, it’s a steep learning curve. Clubs will put more time into him and he will need to evolve to remain ahead of that curve.
So far, so good ( I can’t wait till he is ready for a full season on the wing though )

It's not impossible.

Your memory is pretty good but not quite right. Aish was taken after Scharenberg - pick 7 i think. Darcy Moore was technically a pick 9.

Also, you are of course forgetting :

WHE - Pick 4

Treloar - one of the few players in the AFL never to be eligible for a draft (GWS took him as one of a small group of underage players they were given access to the year before they joined the league!)

Pendles - pick 5

Sidebottom - pick 11?

Wells - pick 2

Varcoe (15), Adams (13) - picked in the early teens.

Reminds me of Andrew McLeod in his early days but just a bit taller.

... Beams? He had a better first year than Sidey, so did Daisy.
