I thought his odds would tumble, after last night's match, so, I went into my Crown account, hoping I could still get on, at value. He was paying $101 for a dollar. I jumped on.
Checked, just now, and he's still $101. Polled 14 votes, last season.
Oh, and another young bloke is also on $101 - one B. Grundy.
$67 - Pendles & Treloar. _________________ Donny.

He should have won gthe Norm Smith in the GF draw exxcept they discarded 2 voters who gave him 3 and included 2 who gave him none. Cost me 800 bucks. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

The odds have not changed yet on Crownbet due to their 'price freeze' promotion. They will shorten on Monday. Thanks for the heads up though, I placed a tenner on each (Sidey and Grundy) |

Will be interesting to see by how much Sidey tightens, tomorrow, with quite a few jumping on the !00/1. _________________ Donny.

I don't think that situation is all that unusual, though. Dangerfield is currently $6, Selwood $26 and Ablett $34, all clearly viewed as reasonable chances and going take votes off each other. Similar, Martin $4.25, Cotchin $26. |

The odds makers aren't stupid they go by history and I other factors when setting the prices
Sidey has never been a huge vote getter in the Brownlow
His best return was last season with 14 votes some 22 votes behind the winner
He's playing in a side were Grundy and Pendles will take votes off him along with the random very good game by a team mate
Also we weren't at short odds to make the 8 and history says guys playing in sides that lose more games than they win struggle to get consistent 3 votes.
Finally the media pump up players time and again and try to declare a winner by round 6 to make themselves look like geniuses. Problem with this is the umpires follow suit giving out votes to the media darlings (think Tom Mitchell already)
I would love to see a Collingwood player win the Charlie just can't see it happening this season unless several other players go down injured or are suspended
I would have Sidey on 5 maybe 6 votes so far.
There talking Mitchell already in double figures along with Martin
It's a long season so those who who took the big odds good luck |

Mitchell and Martin are about 3/1 on Crown, with D'field on 6/1 and Fyfe paying $9.
"The odds makers aren't stupid they go by history and I other factors when setting the prices"
As far as I know, weight of money (or lack of) determines the odds. It's not their (Crown, Bet 365 etc) opinion. They're not punters.
Sidey tumbled in (from 100/1 to 40/1) because fans wagered on him, 1. because they think he can win and, 2. because the 100/1 was simply worth a punt. _________________ Donny.
