In all the excitement at our double obliteration of the scum over the weekend, I just realised that Wells' was not mentioned anywhere. From the 2nd half of the VFL game I watched on Youtube, he was nowhere to be seen. Did he play at all? If not, then this means he'll probably be another month away, at least. As silky as he is, it's looking more and more like his signing was almost as bad as that of Mayne's. If anyone has any info on him, please share it.

I haven't heard much about his progress and I'm not sure he's really a required player TBH with you. We seem to have things covered and he's injury prone and unlikely to feature much at all this year. I agree he's got skills but we need players who can contribute 100% and fall apart every few weeks.

As for Mayne, I didn't see much from him that would warrant senior selection. Current form, I can't see either of them being at the club next year. We need to move on and move forward.

However, veteran midfielder Daniel Wells is still one-to-two weeks away as he looks to build his conditioning after Achilles/calf problems affected his preparation.

Tend to agree about Wells. Evennif he plays 10 more games, he just has them at the likely expense of a young bloke. I can’t see Wells being there next year, so we might as well start developing our plans / strategies without him.
He’s one more lower leg injury away from being a total bust.

As for his latest niggle, you can bet the club will continue to work very hard at downplaying any setbacks as best they can. It’s the Collingwood way.

He did not play. He is injured (sorry, I mean, in the middle of what Geoff Walsh is calling "a mini-preseason").

He has now only played a half of one VFL practice match this year.

Daniel “I’m training the house down in February” Wells is a bust!

Their set up in Scum demolition part 2 was interesting with most centre bounces

Ruckman with Rupert Wills and a JDG or Blair——differences of skill aside strong bodies all three

Wells if he does make it back in with that as the norm (a big big body and a small big body) he and others won’t be required as muscle hard roles

Sier was in there a lot as well.

Sier, De Goey and Wills was a pretty imposing trio (although without wanting to ruffle feathers, the square worked better with Blair and two of them).

Sier indeed was and Blair going by the VFL stats was either BOG or close

It was interesting how both Wills and Sier monstered the Carlton mids

If you got a game on the Round 1 game Blair would be in the running tho I suspect the future of the 22 May alter that entrance fee

If you thought he was overpaid in 2017 earning in excess of $60,000 a game, 2018 looks like his match payments will go even higher!

Worst pickup in a very long time

^ what, since or after Mayne?

At least when Wells plays seniors he has an impact for us. A significant one. Only lost one game he played in 2017 and he influenced most of those.

Mayne has done 3/5s of FA.

Wells should be seen as icing. Not the cake

Is it just me or is the “HAMSTRING TIGHTNESS” revelation an actual revelation?? Could have sworn it was Achilles issues holding him back.

^ I thought the Achilles had been the longer issue and the “hamstring tightness” was what caused him to miss game time after playing a half a couple of weeks ago?
