Post subject: Would another coach have done better with last nights team ? | |
|
I’m not on here to be a Buckley apologist and I also understand this topic doesn’t address the previous few years of ongoing poor performances.
However, in my opinion, that side we trotted out last night would have been lucky to beat anyone, regardless of who coached it.
We possibly would have stood a chance against a couple ( other ) cellar dwellers but that’s about it.
Throw in a beaten mid field ( as in when they don’t have the ball ) and that’s about right for a result.
Simply, the current list isn’t good enough but whoever we want to blame for that is another topic.
I’m not against changing the coach sometime soon but to think that will be the immediate panacea to all our ails, is delusional. |

A partner doesn't make you happy. You make yourself happy. You are the key to your own happiness. However, a partner can make you unhappy, by the things they do to, and around you. If something is not working, either you, or they, or both, need to change. Sometimes you just have to admit that despite both your efforts, it ain't working. Or you can just stay in an unhappy relationship and waste your life being unhappy. We all make choices. However, we never get the years back, either good or bad. _________________ Get back on top. |

The clear answer is that team was the team Buckley built.
As opposed to the gold standard team that he inherited.
It might take a good coach a few years to turn this ship around. |

The longer this goes on, the longer it will take the next coach to make us successful again. |

No, but a new coach (and President), will give us a new direction. _________________ I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within. |

Clarkson wouldn't have won if he was the Pies coach last night. We were putrid. _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |

Yes but if they were both coaching the exact same team I suspect most of us would accept Clarkson would win out. _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

I disagree on this point. In my opinion the longer
This goes on, the more top ten draft picks the next coach will
Have. It’s not all bad |

Yes longer we stay status quo with out improvement some of our fierce rival for more flags built and strengthen
Year was 1958 and we snag a flag to have 13 —rivals like Carlton & Essendon
sat on a paltry 8 flags
Time moved on and on till 2018 where we moved to 15 —rivals like Carlton & Essendon now sit on 16
As these two build they move further ahead as we stagnate _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

But knowing our luck, they'll find a way to change the rules to prevent us from obtaining x amount of high draft picks, sort of like what they did in 2011 when they introduced the sub rule to curb the number of interchanges that were being made to curb our influence on the game. |

Are you claiming that the other half would have survived by being invisible? |

Without going over the entire list for when they were drafted by doing some basic research.
I count 15 first round draft picks on our list from memory. |

Relatively speaking, I think a new president is arguably easier to accomplish, safer (in terms of possible unintended side-effects), and more urgently needed. |
