I disagree. There were no gifts out there at all today. We played above our capacities through sheer guts and determination .

Makes no never mind how good a coach he is. Buckley is cursed to never, ever hold a premiership cup on the dias on GF day.

We may as well part ways now and give ourselves a chance to win a premiership.

That's a really knee-jerk reaction. Have you stopped to think how amazing it was we made in the first place????

It sucks, but the curse is real. And if we want to hold that cup aloft, it has to be sans Nathan.

Needed to do something about McGovin but has been great all year. When your best player has no impact it’s hard to win, not a lot Bucks could do.

They constantly kicked it to them on the wing/hf flank, we could rarely get it any further yet persisted with the same kick, same tactic all bloody day

Maybe when you realise your AA ruck is getting smashed it’s time to try something new.

We should never have kicked it to a contest in the 4th. It should have been run and switch every time.

I've been a critic over the years but if that's the change after last year's review - more than happy for him to continue and despite the result today, it's been refreshing to see the players and coaches together as one and it has been noticeable. May it continue and roll on 2019...

But they were being out run in the 4th, tiredness was starting to set in.

As good as he’s been, I’d get Roos from 2020 onwards. Reckon this year is Bucks ceiling.

How absolutely ridiculous!!! Please get some perspective. From someone who has followed this game and Collingwood for a long, long time, there is no curse and there is no sans Nathan!!!!
Get it into your brains that most times we shouldn't have even made it to the GF and this year was possibly one, It's only the undaunted Collingwood spirit that gets us there in the first place!!!!

We could not run. Baring the first minute and a few minutes at the end the ball lived in their forward line. Back line did really well too hold on so long. We got outplayed in most areas today after they settled. We laid 104 tackles but with the Pendles, Sidey and Grundy down it was too much to cover.

Emmmm well when the bones are laid to bare - we simply just were't good enough.

And as much as we out shone expectations this season, the responsibility lays squarely at our coaching staffs feet. Premierships don't fall off trees and who knows - we may not be in this position again anytime soon, so it just wasn't good enough - someone needs to take responsibility.

late edit: And no im not calling for heads from the coaching staff (although the runner has got to go, in fact they should all go.. permanently) but they chose to go in unchanged when it was obvious we were undersized vs WC.

It's not good enough to make GF's and then lose them - do not be proud of what we did this season, instead be massively disappointed and make the changes required to make us better. Near enough is not good enough. We must be ruthless.

Japanese philosophy invoked to drive Magpies' run

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/japanese-philosophy-invoked-to-drive-magpies-run-20180930-p506wx.html

'Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has revealed that the Japanese art of Kintsugi underpinned the Magpies' resilient tilt towards an unlikely premiership.

In Kintsugi, breakages to ceramics are repaired in such a manner that the restoration is highlighted to make the different piece more beautiful.
...

"The things that break you can actually have you coming out the other side stronger, can actually make you more resilient, a better version of you," Buckley said.'

What are you saying? That they couldn’t run in the last quarter because they were up late on Friday night fixing broken pottery?

Not really, i think we can be very proud at what we have achieved this season, really, come on. We had not even made Finals in 5 yrs, not once, i just wanted to make the 8 this season, and hopefully, win one Final, Instead, we made top four, nobody tipped that, third spot, and won two finals, with a team made up largely of players who had never even played any Finals, at all. We probably over achieved massively, in hindsight, i kinda would have preferred losing to the Tigers in a tough game, and going out with our heads up, ready to roar into next season. Now, we have a GF loss to deal with, with a young team, one can hope they are stung by it, and resolve to go one better as soon as possible, but its now in the lap of the Gods, as GFs are so damn hard to make. Yes, i do agree we must be ruthless, more onfield now i reockon, we should have smashed McGoverns ribs yesterday, slammed him, but nobody did, we need to be more harder on the field, play that unsociable footy stuff. Idea
