In hindsight, yes it was a mistake. But perhaps it needed a sub-par game from him for them to work out that he couldn't continue week by week carrying that injury. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing |

Well, the Langdon news is that, according to inxs88, his kicking is C-grade. |

This is a couple posts back:

Eureka, the second it's announced he's responded well to rest and will play soon or that he needs to get it cut open, then you'll know. We just have to wait and see.
Right now he's resting it and hoping it responds well. But there is a chance he will miss the rest of the season. Right now, no news is good news. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Appleby has been passed fit and will play in this weeks VFL match.
Nobel will also play this weekend in the VFL.
We also know that Wills has a calf injury and thats why he was a late out in the VFL last week. He is looking unlikely to play this week.
The club put a god awful injury report on their facebook page about an hour ago. Pretty much the worst injury report I've ever seen with no information and the people in the comments are losing their minds because they have not listed any information about return dates. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Listed as 3 weeks but the statement says "Langdon will be out for some time yet"
Some time yet to me means more than 3 weeks |
Very good point. TBH, I dont know where this ruomer came from and who leaked it. Maybe it was made up? But I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. Until we hear something official from the club, it's good news.

I hope Beams can get back soon. I do believe we made a mistake to play him against Fremantle. He finished in the top ten of the Brownlow last year. This year he's playing in a better midfield and a better team, so he won't stand out as much. We need him fit and we need him out there.
Hopefully, Adams, Elliott, Grundy and Appleby are all passed fit next week. If we get good news on Langdon and Murphy, then we'll only be waiting on Kelly, Wells and Beams to get back very late in the season. (This is why we need to start winning VFL games too) |
I read the rumour first on big footy then someone posted on a Collingwood supporters page the same thing (don't know if it was same person)
The clubs injury update listing him as 3 weeks then the statement saying different just smacks of ludicrous to me
I'm only guessing but I would imagine they are crossing there fingers and hoping time heals it but if it doesn't then he will get surgery which would have ended his season even if he got it a few weeks ago so the only set back would be when he resumes training in the new year delaying his 2020 season
To me the club shouldn't gamble with players futures at all
Langdon is known to have chronic knee issues and to cross your fingers and hope it heals to me isn't best practise or in the players best interests
Same goes with Beqms he got hurt in round 7 then played on hoping it would heal but knowing his going to get knocked around in a game but common sense would have been rest him for X weeks or get him surgery straight away. It doesn't do the player or the team any good having a player play no can't perform anywhere near his best |

Beams was previously injured in the pre-season, so this has been a long time coming. |

Knew that they weren’t Elliott should have an extra week off and Adams an extra 2 weeks off |

To be fair, the statement is from the AFL website and not officially from the club. Usually the AFL post an injury update on Tuesday with the club putting its own one out on Wednesday. Sometimes they contradict each other, but I post both if they do.

I dont think the club is gambling with Langdons future. The decision to rest would have been made by club doctors, outside specialists and Tom himself. The club will always put the health of a player first. Wether that be physical or mental.
We'll know more about Langdon in the coming weeks. We're not rushing him back. We're being cautious whilst giving him some chance to get back this season. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

With Appleby and Nobel back in the VFL this week:
COLLINGWOOD
Taylor Adams - Groin (1 Week) I did mention last week that I doubt he's a test but thats what AFL reported. Had a setback after Swans game but is on track for a call up in the next fortnight.
Jamie Elliott - Hamstring (1 Week) He's keen to get back out there. Club has been cautious with his return.
Will Kelly - Leg (4-7 Weeks)
Daniel Wells - Knee (10 Weeks)
Dayne Beams - Hip (10-14 Weeks)
Tom Langdon - Knee (TBC) Last week listed as 3 weeks. We'll know more in the next fortnight. Some unofficial reports have suggested he will need to have surgery.
Brodie Grundy - Neck (TBC). Last week played with a sore ankle. Maybe he could have been rested? This neck injury is news to me. I'd expect him to play, but we'll see what happens at training tomorrow/Thursday.
Rupert Wills - Calf (TBC) Was withdrawn from the VFL last week. Will know more in a few days. No one seems to care because his name isnt Langdon.
Tom Wilson - Conditioning (TBC) Just building fitness levels. Am assuming he will play VFL later in the year?
Nathan Murphy - Ankle (Indefinite) Still waiting for some good news here.
Lynden Dunn - Knee (Season)

In a move set to raise more questions about WA's home of football, the Dockers will follow West Coast's lead by temporarily scaling back training on the venue's hard surface." |

"The Eagles and Fremantle are set to meet at what Dockers coach Ross Lyon labelled a "summit" to discuss the surface, with both clubs worried by significant lower-leg issues suffered by players.

The Eagles have previously met with Optus Stadium operator VenuesLive and arena manager Tony Hemming to air their concerns about player welfare, despite testing indicating the surface falls within the AFL's acceptable hardness range." |
