(Have a look at the post two up. Assuming it really is a transverse process fracture, we probably know all there is to know.)

In the NFL, Derek Carr had a transverse process fracture in 2017.
Video of his incident: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlnOB0ud5Ro
He missed 1 game, but claimed it affected him the rest of the season.

Tony Romo had the injury in 2014 and played out the game but missed the next one.

Cam Newton had the injury in the same season in a car accident and missed 1 game.

You've got me nervous that he'll be affected for the rest of the year... Shocked

He's going to miss at least 5 to 6 weeks from all reports. Hopefully he isnt dragging this injury around with him for the whole year and hopefully he gets back in and has kept his form.

How could you be nervous? The danger is the opposite, that I'd give you false hope. Look: those NFL boys missed only one game each. Shocked

Great how Geoff Walsh says, "Pleasingly not a structural issue," huh? S'pose it's okay to call a transverse process fracture not structural ("it's only the wing!"), but what would count as a structural issue??

COLLINGWOOD

Dayne Beams - Illness (TEST) (Will play)

Jack Madgen - Concussion (TEST)

Tyler Brown - Shoulder (TBC)

Nathan Murphy - Ankle (TBC) (TBC?? Same as last week)

Will Kelly - Ankle (1-2 Weeks) (Same as last week)

Will Hoskin-Elliott - Knee (1-2 Weeks) (Has come down significantly)

Chris Mayne - Back (TBC (6+ Weeks)

Matt Scharenberg - Knee (6-7 weeks)

Lynden Dunn - Knee (Season)

Quote:
Beams is expected to be back to face his former club Brisbane at the Gabba on Thursday night but Mayne requires some healing time. Hoskin-Elliott is back in full training and is perhaps just a week away, and so is father-son draftee Will Kelly, but a timeline for Murphy remains unclear. Tyler Brown and Madgen will be assessed after sitting out the second half in the VFL. Scharenberg is on target for a mid-season return from a third knee reconstruction, but the season seems over for veteran Dunn after a second anterior cruciate ligament rupture in nine months. - Ben Collins

I find it funny that they didnt list Mayne, but I added him in as "TBC" but we also know it'll be over 6 weeks.

WHE was 3-4 weeks and is now 1-2. Hopefully we can get him fit soon. We miss him I reckon.

Got a few from our "best 22" missing, but still in better shape than in previous seasons. Hope to get back from Brisbane and head into Anzac Day without any more injuries.

Stop outsmarting me. Razz Razz Razz

All we can do, I guess, is wait and see if his timeline changes at all and how he goes when he gets back in, either via VFL or straight back in?

In 8 weeks we have our BYE. He should be back, at least in the VFL, by then. I'm just guessing tho. #notadoctor #notamedicaldoctoranyway

We miss him in many ways, including his goal-kicking accuracy and his repeat sprint efforts both ways.

Remember when the club said his (ITB release) surgery was a very minor procedure? Sad
And when they said he was a chance to play R2? Sad

It's not quite the same as Walsh's list:

https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/video/2019-04-16/injury-update-round-5
[at 1:55]

Tohill Concussion Test; Madgen Concussion Unlikely; Kelly Foot 2 wks; H-E Knee 2-3 wks; Mayne Back 4-5 wks; T. Brown Shoulder 4-6 wks; Murphy Ankle 5-6 wks; Scharenberg Knee 6-7 wks; Dunn Knee Indefinite.

5-6 weeks for Murphy?? What the hell has he done to his ankle? It must be far more than the standard ligament strain from a rolled ankle.

Played his first game last week in the VFL and did really well. Will play VFL again this week, and will be in the selection frame for Anzac Day.

If you look back in this thread a month, you'll see it was 2-3 wks for a left calf injury, but let's not jump to the conclusion that in a month's time it'll be 8-9 weeks for a left toe injury.

Last night as the players gathered after the win both Howe and Elliott had ice packs around the top of their leg—-precaution only I hope

Went to Vic Park to see what’s available if injury or illness befalls us

Reid I felt struggled yesterday and would likewise struggle in AFL

Goldy played a better game —-an outside choice if needed

Both Issac and Atu IMO need a year in VFL

Wells played most of game and was silky smooth—he was monitored

Crocker played a great game as did Wills and Broomy kicks three goals

Injury wise Appleby got a knock to left leg and sprinted / jumped but couldn’t take further part—down to rooms with left boot off and clutched in hand

Trav Cloke appeared to line coach the forwards and Sier in jeans and t shirt looked on

cheers BazBoy
Goldy might be a good replacement on Aish.

How certain are you about IQ? - could he have just had a bad day or a difficult opponent? All the reports were he is a 'ready made'.

Against the grain I'm not down on Crocker and think him a good role player and hope he gets more opportunity. People used to say similar things about Maxwell.
