Googs will be missing again:
'He hasn’t re-injured it': Magpies deny superstar setback
https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-08-12/he-hasnt-reinjured-it-magpies-deny-superstar-setback
"... De Goey is expected to miss at least one more week...
The 23-year-old was spotted at scans on Monday afternoon...
"Speaking to our medical guys this morning, it would be expected both him and Darcy would come up a bit short," Pies head of football Geoff Walsh told AFL.com.au.
...
Meanwhile, utility Ben Reid completed a one-on-one running session on Monday morning..." |

If DeGoey is a week away in Collingwood speak, then he's out for the season.

If anyone's interested in sports science, high performance etc, there's a great weekly podcast called Pacey where leading high performance managers are interviewed. The latest one is an interview with the Adelaide high performance manager....gets into a lot of technical detail on soft tissue injury prevention, and how it's associated with hip strength through different ranges of motion.

Anyone ever heard of a 10 day hammy? Always going to be the standard 4 weeks for JDG. _________________ The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after. |

Isaac Quaynor - Foot (TBC)
Ben Reid - Calf and Hamstring (TBC)

Quote: | Daicos copped a knock in the win over Melbourne and will be tested before a decision is made on his availability for the twilight clash with Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday. De Goey, Moore and Aish hope to be back before the end of the minor rounds, while a VFL bye this weekend has Wells and possibly Sier targetting final-round returns. Quaynor still seems some time away and Kelly is also being managed conservatively, while Reid faces an uphill battle to play again this season. The suspended Stephenson will be available at finals time but the campaign is over for Cox, Langdon, Beams and Dunn. - Ben Collins |
Only Daicos joins the list this week. At worst, misses one. This could affect his position in the team.
The problem we have is that there is a VFL bye this week and we cannot make the finals. So we have one VFL match left. I think late season byes in the VFL need to be addressed.
IQ and Kelly might be wrapped up until next season.
Wells, JDG, Moore and Aish are all aiming to play in round 23, but it's also worth noting that this will also be the round of our final VFL season. So if not named to play Essendon, you'd think a game in the VFL will be the aim.
Would have liked a timetable for Sier. And it seems Reid is a small chance to return, but I cant see it happening.
When you think that Daicos, Wells, Moore, Aish and De Goey will all be back before finals, along with Stephenson.... Maybe, just maybe we could do something special in September. Let's just get over Adelaide! _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

The good thing is that owing to the bye week after the h & a season, we actually have almost 4 weeks to get our players fit and ready for the first final. I reckon we'll need all of that to get Moore, De Goey, Aish and possibly Wells up and about. |

Who, and how does he or she get that info?
(I wonder if the club's denial on Monday there was a setback is a lie.) |

The Moore thing is a repeat of last year. He's training and looking fine, but will he and the club pull the trigger? If they don't, will it be both sides pointing the finger at the other again? |

Former Pie player, runner (2009-10) and rehab coach (2008-11) Justin Crow is parting with Essendon as their physical performance boss.
The Age: ' “Justin has had a tremendous impact on our football club, and has led a very dedicated high-performance team during his tenure at the club, particularly through some challenging circumstances,” Richardson said in a statement. ...
The "challenging circumstances" that Richardson speaks of are sure to involve the club's injury crisis, with several key players unavailable.' |

Rumour mill doing the rounds that JDG has most definitely reinjured his ‘string and will be gone for another month.
Another injury prone player or another mismanaged by an incompetent conditioning program?
I can’t buy that we have this many young injury prone players.
The season is just about done. God help us if we muster another miraculous September just to fail on Grand final Day again. F that. _________________ Est. 2002 |

Now that the teams have been named: (No VFL this week)
Quote: | Josh Daicos - Concussion (TEST) Apparently passed fit, but dropped and wont play as there is a bye in the VFL for Collingwood.
Daniel Wells - Knee (1 week) Will be tested for the final VFL game of the year and possibly the game against Essendon.
Darcy Moore - Hamstring (1-2 weeks) Will test for Essendon
James Aish - Shoulder (1-2 weeks) Will test for Essendon
Jordan De Goey - Hamstring (1-2 weeks) Will test for Essendon
Phil Inn - Calf (TBC) Will test for Detroit Pistons
Isaac Quaynor - Foot (TBC) Doubtful to play again this year. #cottonwool
Will Kelly - Hamstring (TBC) Doubtful to play again this year. #cottonwool
Ben Reid - Calf and Hamstring (TBC) Doubtful to play again this year. #theendisneigh
Mason Cox - Eye (Season)
Dayne Beams - Hip/Shoulder (Season)
Lynden Dunn - Knee (Season)
Tom Langdon - Knee (Season) |
If we can go to Adelaide, get the win and come home without any new injury concerns, we'll have a big week on the training track with some big names to possibly come back Vs Essendon. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Neigh??!! He'll be turned into a horse?! And then from horse to dog food??!!
So your dog (who, lest we forget, is a Pies member) could end up eating him?!
Dog: "This meat tastes a bit old, but the calf is very tender." |
