Adams is weeks away. His breakdown was worse than expected.

Elliot is a concern. His lower back / hamstring issues problems are dire for an AFL player who has to bend to gather a ball and accelerate from that position. Very worrying.

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/elliott-out-for-at-least-another-match-with-buckley-still-frustrated-by-magpies-20190625-p52155.html

'“He’s trained really strongly the last couple of weeks, he did a massive session on Sunday and will train fully through this week and whether he’s this week or next we’re looking forward to get him back.

“He’s been really impressive.”

Those comments were at 12:30 on Tuesday afternoon, but Collingwood tweeted less than four hours later: "Jamie Elliott is making positive progress towards a return but won't be available for round 15."'

Former AFL stars pledge to donate brains as researchers warn of risk from head knocks

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/former-afl-stars-pledge-to-donate-brains-as-researchers-warn-of-risk-from-head-knocks-20190627-p521yz.html

"Williams and Smith have both pledged to donate their brains to research conducted by associate professor Alan Pearce, who studies the neurological effects of contact sports at La Trobe University.

Professor Pearce said AFL players are "absolutely" at risk of developing Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, after researchers uncovered the first evidence linking rugby league players to the degenerative brain disorder this week, in what's been described as a "wake up call" for the industry.
...

Last week, Professor Pearce helped to launch the Melbourne branch of the Australian Sports Brain Bank and is calling on players at any level to pledge to donate their brains to the centre to enable research into the effects of head impacts and concussion.

So far, five people have pledged to donate their brains..."

'Aish also hasn't endured any further issues with his left shoulder, which underwent a reconstruction last off-season. (His right one had been reconstructed previously.)

However, he's still managing a posterior cruciate ligament issue in his left knee that threatened his 2018 season.

"It's a continual thing, to be honest. You have to keep on top of it and keep checking up on it. It has to be managed pretty well. If you drop off it for a couple of weeks it'll flare up a little bit," Aish said ...

"Most players have niggles to work on, so I can't complain. It doesn't impact me too much. It's more about modifying things in the gym to avoid pain."'

Aish a late out with Hamstring soreness.

Reid out of the game in the first quarter with a right calf problem. We'll see if he comes back out, but it doesn't look good.

The Reid soft tissue injury was inevitable. Poor bugger is destined to miss with soft tissue.

Our next injury will be Roughhead....and that'll officially end our season.

Reid officially out, obviously we need to wait for scans and all that stuff, but the commentators seem to think it will be "A number of weeks".

Hard to believe we have ten players injured and 2 suspended and within a few hours we add Aish, Reid and Sier to the list.

Trying to find a good spin today.

In the coming week we should have Wills and Elliott available.

Within a fortnight we should have the following players back: Adams, Howe, Aish and Sier. I guess the only thing is will we want them to travel to Perth?

Within a month: Kelly.

Aiming for round 23: Beams and Wells.

Hoping for good news on Langdon, Reid and Murphy, but expecting the worst.
