Remember round 1 1990. Many of you wont but those who do will remember a 6 goal drubbing by the Eagles and our new star recruit rover being reported for kicking Alex Rances old man. Cant really remember how our season panned out after that. I was so disgusted by our performance that I screwed up my membership ticket and said Im never going to watch a Collingwood game again. No forward line.. a wingman playing full forward and relying on an ageing half forward flanker to kick our goals (hed need to nearly kick a ton). Plenty of workman like players in the team too. Not a lot of real stars to be honest. A high-profile, loud mouthed President. A former champion player looking for his first flag as a Coach. I wonder what ever did happen that season. Got a familiar ring to it?[/url]

After coming off successive finals campaigns albeit out in straight sets but with an exciting, youngish list and inspired recruiting, it somehow felt a little different. This round 1 only reaffirmed why I've been the least enthusiastic about the start to a season ever. So, no, it doesn't feel remotely familiar.

2002 - Lost by 37 points to the highly-fancied Tigers who made the preliminary final the year before. We played off in a grand final and they finished 14th.

2014 - Lost by 70 points to the Dockers. Ended up winning 8 of the next 10 before declining in the second half of the season and missing the finals.

2016 - Lost by 80 points to the Swans. Finished 12th with 9 wins.

Just sayin Mate.

I think Joffas prediction of a flag and a Brownlow for Darce was more optimistic.

Just sayin that weve only played the first 2 hours of a very long season and theres Lots to play out still (and I didnt really screw up my membership, just highlighting the massive over reaction of some here to what happened last weekend).

I think youre wrong mate. You dont lose the players after one game. The players were visibly buoyant last year with his reappointment similar to the Richmond Players when Hardwick was reappointed. You shouldnt lose the fans after one game either, which is the point of my post.
