The emerging rule is that if Mitchell gets more than 50 against you, you win. The biggest problem playing against Hawthorn is how to encourage your team to have faith that the best way to beat them is to let Mitchell have it in his hands. |

Ok, I'll be serious.
This season, Brodie has attracted many GB Medal votes. This last game is an example. He's received ten 5 pointers, so far, but still couldn't draw a single vote from either coach.
They probably take the 'hit out' stat with a grain of salt - as I do. Ruckmen get AF points for every time they get first hand to the ball, whether or not it's to the team's advantage.
I've watched ruck contests, over the years, and find them, mostly, disappointing. Bear in mind I grew up watching the likes of Polly Farmer, John Nicholls and John Shultz, so maybe I'm a bit biased.
Even the spring-heeled Nic Nat often gets first hand to ball but - as players have done with Sandilands - his midfielders have it sharked by oppo players. _________________ Donny.

Good to see Tom Phillips in the votes, again.
He had 22 disposals in the second half - when others were tiring. _________________ Donny.

But Brodie is so much more than just a tap ruckman.
He's having his best year by a mile. Average; disposals, marks, tackles AND hit outs up by huge numbers.
The Big mans gut running has also been impressive.
I think he may poll a lot better in the Charlie than many think. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

Yes. I agree with the rest of what he brings to the team - and I love the bloke.
I mention the hit-outs because of him not getting a single coaches' vote, even though he racked up 151 AF Points. _________________ Donny.

Mugwap, RonRat and E. The only three of us who see the game like the coaches do. We each rated Thomas and Adams as the two best on the weekend. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Grundy played a serviceable game, but he did not influence the outcome of the game like others did. Thomas and Adams were much more influential on this day.
I feel like Nicks has a crush on Sidebottom, Pendles and Grundy. Nearly every week they get votes (sometimes they deserve them and sometimes they just get the votes because they play in the midfield and are in a lot of contests).
Coaches tend to see who did the best job of playing their role. Hence Thomas and Adam polled well this weekend. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |
