B: Murray Dunn Langdon
HB: Crisp Moore Howe
C: WHE Pendles Phillips
HF: Varcoe Reid Stephenson
F: C. Brown Cox Sidey
FOLL: Grundy, Treloar, Adams
IC: Sier, Thomas, Maynard, Kirby
I'd like to see Kirby get a game early even though he didn't play the JLT
As a point of interest with Goldy out for a reco - does that mean long term injury and do we get to elevate a rookie? I assume its Appleby or Mihocek
Who would you expect to get called up and how long before you make that call? _________________ We shall set our course by the stars and not ships that pass in the night |

The issue for me is whether Aish is available or not, and whether Fasolo's form warrants selection? Our boys will have one more hit out I guess to impress the selectors, but on what I've seen here's my team.

The VFL side surely must have another practice match next week he can find some touch in again. |
It does.

According to Robert Harvey both Aish and Fasolo will be available for Round 1 (or JLT3 as I see it).

Sadly, I expect Grundy to be rubbed out and unavailable. Also missing through injury are Elliott, Wells, Greenwood, De Goey and (possibly) Aish. So given these 'outs', here's my selected team for round one:
B: Murray Dunn Langdon
HB: Maynard Moore Howe
C: WHE Pendles Phillips
HF: Varcoe Reid Fasolo
F: C. Brown Cox Sidey
FOLL: McLarty, Treloar, Adams
IC: Sier, Thomas, Crisp, Stephenson
I'm sure I've overlooked someone, but there it is. |
Always like these posts. My team would be:
B: Murray Dunn Langdon
HB: Crisp Moore Howe
C: Maynard Treloar J Thomas
HF: Sidebottom Reid Varcoe
F: Fasolo Mason Hoskin Elliott
F: Grundy Pendelbury Adams
ICH: Aish, C Brown, Stephenson, Scharenberg
Missing:
* Wells
* Greenwood
* DeGoey
* Elliott
* Goldsack _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

Fas will surely play if fit. If Elliott and Wells were playing form comes into it, but without them it will simply be fitness.
If Scharenberg plays Friday I think he could be likely as well. I'd not be surprised if he took Goldsack's spot up forward.
The only other player not to play JLT who'd be a chance is Aish. The players returning from injury or being managed are those who might make the jump. Picking first gamers straight from VFL practise games is iffy and likely to be whiffy.
I think your selection is spot on. Blair will be close, but I think Brown has done enough to take his spot and I really don't want to see them playing together this year. _________________ Well done boys! |

i think this is pretty close. Its quite sad how little Stephenson has had to do to join our best 22. he really hasn't shown much of anything so far, and yet, its hard to see who is keeping him out of our side.
sadly, we have absolutely no depth and so outside of the top 23 or 24 players, not one person deserves a game. desperately hoping that this changes as the season goes along. Really hope some of the children step up and that next cabs off the rank are Sier, McLarty or Daics. I would hate for Blair or Smith or Mihocek to be the next cab off the rank. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

^^Well, we do have the following outs. If available Stephenson might not be considered:
De Goey, Wells, Elliott, Greenwood, Goldsack, Scharenberg (?)
We have quite a bit of midfield depth. _________________ Well done boys! |

And in that team, I'd have Stephenson as last selected. Scharenberg if fit will be close to replacing him - only reason not to is lack of game time.
Stephenson gets the nod for having an exciting debut to start the year. He's far from certain to be picked. _________________ Well done boys! |

I'd imagine Aish would need to play this Friday in the VFL practice match to be any chance for round 1. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Let's hope both Aish and Fasolo play - I think we can put a pretty decent side out there against the Hawks with only Elliott, JDG and Wells the missing trio who would be guaranteed best 22 - with Greenwood and Wills potentially in the mix if fit also. |

I'd select both then if they get through their VFL game this weekend. |

Wills is a weapon. 70m clearance kicks to the goal square is a asset to any team.
strong player who keeps his head over it but could do with another 1m or 2 of pace. only suited to the midfield but even so would love him to be fit and ready. definitely would get a start while Greenwood sits in rehab. any news on Rupert? _________________ no second chances |

B:Murray, Dunn, Langdon
HB:Howe, Moore, Crisp
C: Phillips, Pendlebury, Hoskin-Elliott
HF:Maynard, Reid, Adams
F:Varcoe, Cox, Fasolo
Foll:Grundy, Treloar, Sidebottom
Int: Thomas, Stephenson, C.Brown, *Smith
Emg:Broomhead, Scharenberg, Blair
With the players unavailable due to injury I like the idea of playing Adams and Maynard across half forward (with rotations through the midfield) to hopefully provide some fierce forward 50 pressure and strength around stoppages deep within f50 to help off set the creative options missing in Elliott, Wells and de Goey.
*I've ruled a line through Aish. Smith is the new Blair. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

I think he played some of the last VFL game, so hopefully he'll play the game on friday. Seems he's had a very limited preseason, so I wouldn't expect he'd be in the frame for senior selection for a few weeks yet. |
