I honestly think it was a decent hitout. You're not going to be playing champagne football with a bunch of your stars missing and 2nd game of a JLT game. I think we are expecting miracles to happen.
Let's take the positives out of this game.
* Outscored them by 10 goals after qrt time.
* We had 9 more inside 50's yet we had an extra 13 scoring shots.
* Cox kicking 4 will boost his confidence. (still not convinced he's our answer)
* Moore looked right at home down back
Shit load of work to do but a much better hit out than last week. |

I’d go Howe —Moore —-Murray as half back line and put Tay and Crisp where they stamp their authority in the midfield _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I think I enjoyed reading the psychodrama on Nicks as much as the game! _________________ JL |

Cox and Murray were the biggest positives I could identify today. If Cox can continue to improve his marking ability, he'll be an asset for the team and his kicking for goal is solid. Murray looked really good with his defensive efforts and I think he'll play in round 1 based on what I saw today.
Also loved seeing Moore in defence. He has prior experience in that part of the ground so he didn't look unsettled at all and actually thrived on the challenge.
It's no secret we have major skill deficiencies, but there's no doubting that we put in the maximum effort more often than not. It's imperative that Wells can play the majority of games this year because he adds that touch of class and skill that we require, but injuries have been a worry for him.
I also look forward to seeing Elliott and Fasolo return, because I still worry about our forward line even though Cox played an excellent game today.
Overall, much better hit out than last week's debacle. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Yes - but they decided to play a backline of midgets. |

How many goals kicked by Smith, Phillips, Goldsack and Brown, 4 of the 6 named forwards? |
Smith kicked the sealer. What a gun. |

Well done Pies.
Just read the scores.
I am backing my man mason Cox to kick 40 to 50 goals this year. |

Anyone worried about Pendles?
He's looked lethargic in both pre-season games. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Try and be a bit fairer. Phillips had 2 that were touched (just) and Brown spent most of his time around the wing and played all right. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Murray plays Round 1. Forward pressure was great especially in 2nd qtr.
Disposal is a worry especially in the back half. That cost us the early lead and they got a few cheapies out the back. If we can cut out 3-4 goals a game from stupid turnovers in the back half and always have a man behind the ball we don’t have to improve much to get 13-14 wins. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |
