Post subject: How near is Brayden SierReply with quote

There was a post on Brayden a while back and I raise this for a couple of reasons —one being the view of Bucks that Sier on his own admission was not prepared to have footy as a high priority but had knuckled down to hard work as a renewed chance to make it in AFL
The other point I raise is watching him at Intra Club game ,seeing him a big unit at contest and tho his impact was not huge he was out there having a crack —game time might get him better???

Another thing on the big frame (191cm / 91kg) as Bucks feels Wills may not see games till further into season

Thoughts on this guy????

VFL Pies have Intra Club match Friday with Jeremy Howe and Darcy Moore touted to play as is JDG

Guess Sier May be involved in that match

It's a worry isnt it.

Especially when the club could have taken him in the rookie draft. (I believe it was reported at the time, that Sier was expected to be drafted the following year and we jumped early).

Although, there isn't too much to bark at when looking at players taken after Sier at pick 32;

Looking at the amount of games played, there are lots with less than 10 and a few in the very early teens. I've only listed those above 18 or more AFL games, with the exception of Broad cos of the whole tits thing.

35. Marcus Adams. Mature aged, 21 games and a flag for Bulldogs.

39. Rhys Mathieson. 24 games for the Lions.

44. Blake Hardwick. 20 Games for the Hawks.

48. Bailey Williams. 18 games for the Dogs.

54. Mitch Brown. 20 games as a mature recruit for Essendon.

66. Sam Menegola. Been around the block a few times. But now with 20 AFL games.

67. Nathan Broad. Mature aged. 12 games, a flag, and an ex girlfriend with a big rack. He truly belonged at Collingwood.

68. Michael Hartley was another mature age player, now with 37 games at Essendon.

We even could have put up a bid on Jack Silvagni, now with 28 games.

We also took Phillips (5Cool, Wills (63) and Crocker (65) after Sier at 32.

It was a thin draft and there were plenty of 21+ year olds taken. We went the other way with Sier.

Interesting his apathy towards AFL commitment and with JDG some 18 months older and higher draft pick going thru a not disimalar approach

Not saying he is anywhere near JDG ,s potential but how can one really know

When a player like Maxwell or Boyd who committed body and soul and carved out a solid career getting everything possible for their teams I am saddened
that some young talented young men just kinda mark time

If they are really not committed then are they value to us

The first thing the kid needs is an extended block of injury free footy at VFL level.
A lot of kids just drop their bundle when they can’t get on the park and get weighed down with the “ woe is me “ attitude. “ Why should I bother “. Blah, blah.
He’s a big bodied mid, so quite simply, if he can’t find enough of the ball in the VFL, he won’t find it in the AFL.
Give him a good run of half a season or more uninterrupted in the VFL and you will go a long way to knowing whether his future lies at Collingwood or not.

Yes P 2016 that is it !!!——Bucks while discussing him alluded to the injury interrupted start plus his in ineptness adding the kid says he realises where he has gone wrong

IMO is that he builds fitness and gets heaps of game time and make 2018 his platform (he don’t turn 21 till December)

Good luck to the kid

" How Near is Brayden Sier"

" Is he the l inside midfielder standing on the Studley Park Weir?"

" Is he leading the KPI's? Can he look his Coach in the eye?"

"Is he part of a Squad that will gel ? Will he succeed at AFL? or merely rot in the VFL?"

If he makes it I would see him as a big bodied mid —surely the club must foster a player of that ilk

We lauded Rupert Wills when he made his appearance as a much needed
weapon so with him seemingly unavailable IMO we look elsewhere in the
interim

Levi is a player to fill the role but he is also unavailable with injury and
that leaves that role in the team like hens teeth

Everyone takes it as given that he has not such a good attitude to training, etc. I know only of a few muted sentences from Buckley to suggest this. Is it really true? Are there specific examples? He has had quite a few injuries. And his 2k time has improved so that he's round about the Maynard range, i.e. it could be better but isn't terrible like one or two on the list.

Barrackers only see the “iceberg “( one sixth) of information from club

Then build our hopes for success around said information

Err... I realize the mute button on computer audio devices takes it right to 0% sound, but muted doesn't mean silent. (If it did, we'd still be fine, at least at the AGM, etc., because the club has talks with sign language now.) A real-time AI-powered mute button might come in handy for some of the club hierarchy, though.
