I always thought of Freeman as a one trick pony - it was his blitzing speed which was his main attribute. Take that away and there's not much else.

Well, I did give him 2 games but didn't think he'd be dropped.

I thought Hine's decision to draft him in 2013 made sense because we lacked speed.

In hindsight, drafting Cripps would have been ideal.

This is why you always just draft the best player and ignore need. What you need now is probably not what you'll need in 3 years and what you always "need" is someone who can play football.

At the time I really wanted Christian Salem, who was taken 1 spot before Freeman and has been pretty solid, albeit nowhere near Cripps.

Just heard something about "... depending on what happens over the trade period..." I'm not sure if it was A. Richardson speaking...

Yup on channel 9 news and didn't sound optimistic.

Alan Richardson drooping Freeman for last two games is akin to being a “coaching ignoramus”!

Not sure I understand the full context – what was he saying about Freeman?

^ Well, perhaps I should leave the answer to OtM... but the context is Freeman hasn't been selected for the last game & is out of contract at season's end, and there is therefore speculation about his future.

News just in that the Saints have delisted Nathan Freeman. I feel sorry for the guy. I thought they might've given him a one-year deal.[/img]

I suspect his application and willingness to listen to advice was a little lacking. Otherwise I think they would have persisted with him given he had finally made it on the park. His last game was no disaster and he is still relatively young.
