If you had spent your life as a member of the opposite gender – with most of the personality traits and life circumstances that you have had otherwise intact – do you think your life would have been better or worse? Less generally, can you think of any specific ways that your life would have been better/worse if you were born a woman instead of a man (or vice versa)? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Why stop there? What about a different race, or a different species?
Woof, woof!! [Is there a dog emoticon?] |

I voted no because I like my life.
A lot of things would have been easier though. Just the stereotypical things I guess. Easier doesn’t equate to better to me. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

I've managed as a fugly man.
Given that women are judged by their looks I'm guessing things would be tougher as a fugly woman. |

I can’t answer it, as there are just too many variables introduced by such a change. Those variables include :
Would I have felt the same primary responsibility to be a breadwinner, rather than pursuing “riskier” life choices ?
Would I have married a man as good as the woman I married ?
Would my emotional life be the same in a different biological and social construct ?
Would I have been as competitive with less testosterone ?
Can I really understand what the experience of women is like, anyway ?
All imponderables, I’m afraid .... _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

Life difficulty settings from easiest to hardest:
1. Hot Woman
2. Hot Man
3. Ugly Man
3a. Short Ugly Man
4. Ugly Woman
4a. Fat Ugly Woman
Of course, life is always what you make of it but there is certainly a leg up for attractive people. |

I can't see how my life would have been better, but then again I would have had different opportunities potentially, so it's possible.
It would have been very different though. Being a 6'3" skinny blonde lesbian would have been interesting at a bush high school in the late 70's early 80's _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

^ There’s another interesting hypothetical – if you were the opposite gender, would you have been straight or gay? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

More precisely, having wealthy parents is the biggest advantage of all, a somewhat unfortunate state of affairs for everyone else. |
