Perhaps? But then, as the facts of the case have emerged, Im starting to feel that their coverage of the Rush claims was, in the context of tabloid reporting, reasonably justified and I say that as no fan of the Telegraph, of course! It looks like theyll need a higher standard in court, though, so the outcome of the case still seems pretty much 50/50 and perhaps even more likely to go against them; though even if he wins, I dare say Rush is wishing hed never pursued it. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Well, yes, there's that distinction between what may seem reasonable to some and what is legally safe. (Think what the Husar case judge was reported to have said...)
As for Rush's possible regret, doesn't that depend on whether these other things would have come out regardless? Do you think, if he'd taken no action, no further media stories would have come out? If they'd have come out anyway, he might as well have taken legal action if his advice was that he'll win. |

I think its entirely possible that Stones wouldnt have. Also, Norvill didnt make any public comment until she was drafted in halfway through the defamation case, before which time it was a very vague he-said she-said affair, and many people (including me) were still inclined to give Rush the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he felt he was between a rock and a hard place of litigating or not litigating, and it must be said that it looked very likely that he would win until Norvill agreed to testify. Once that happened and we had the inevitable attacks on her character and truthfulness from his lawyer keeping in mind that she had always wanted to keep the complaint in-house there was kind of no way back. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

so maybe an admission and an apology would have been a better idea. Or maybe not do it in the first place. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

2 questions/
1. Is that relevant to he Metoo thing as that's all about women
2. Is he a gay man who likes em younger or a pedophile? (allegedly)
Personally, on 2 I think the former as my take on pedos is they go for pre pubescent kids not ones bordering on the age of consent, but look forward to your thoughts _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

1. Totally! There have been more than a few #MeToo cases involving male victims, most notably Kevin Spacey. I dont think anyone much has said that its a movement about women only (even if women have been the primary focus of it).
2. Hes not a pedophile, no, but it does seem like a pretty classic case of a guy whos mainly into young teenage boys, which would make him an ephebophile. Note that some psychologists question whether ephebophilia is even a thing (as in, its not necessarily in any way abnormal to find teenagers attractive). But he definitely does seem to have a particular fixation on teenage boys of a certain age. More importantly, he doesnt seem to have much respect for their personal autonomy or consent or what happens to them after hes had his way with them. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Fair call, Ta.
Interestingly, most of his alleged victims would have been of legal age in Australia because of the different laws for age of consent. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Not sure if the right place for it, but this amazing comedian explains why so many women didnt speak up right away, its not the point of her post, but it speaks to what kind of soft abuse women are expected to put up with, even by other women.

I missed the point. I have absolutely no problem with what she did and don't understand why anyone else would. I've seen a bit of that outing or blasting, whatever, on Twitter and I just think, fair call.
Anyone who thinks that writing crap like that on someones social media page is just flirting or fun is from a different planet to me. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Good on her. May all trolls and social media abusers be outed and shamed. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |
