No hat-trick for Starc.
Hazlewood picks up QdK LBW. Will QdK be in bigger trouble shortly?
Lyon does end up wicketless this innings. Will he also end up lighter in the pocket? |

Lyon has now been charged. We await QdK's fate. |

Er .. hello ? This is no ho hum victory.
Australia just walloped Sth. Africa, in a touch over 4 days - a team vying with Oz to challenge India's #1 Test team status.
Mitchell Starc was amazing, in both innings. _________________ Donny.

Great effort - I didn't tune in live (I was at the opera). Starc's rampages really killed that game off but there was a lot of effort and application from the team, generally. |

But that's nothing compared with what Channel 9 are claiming regarding QdK. If QdK really did make obscene comments, which he's made before, about DW's wife, he needs to be suspended from the next Test.

Given what happened, I think Lyon cannot complain about being fined (and he didn't). But Jeff Crowe is charging de Kock with only the same level of offence. de Kock should be grateful he wasn't suspended, not contesting the charge. The SA board, like many cricket boards around the world nowadays, has no moral compass. It's also unclear to me on what basis Warner can get a higher-level charge. Basically, his teammates prevented him from doing anything that might warrant a higher-level charge. Surely you cannot be charged on the basis of what people speculate he might have done if he'd been able to?
How bad de Kock's crime is depends on what exactly he said about Warner's wife. It was heard by more than one player, but they have been tight-lipped, at least to the media. Channel 9 suggested it was obscene. I hardly think calling someone's wife "ugly" or "fat", for example, would count as obscene. Given the people involved, one cannot help but wonder if it was sexually explicit in nature. It's Crowe's job to find out if that was the case. He's simply not doing his job properly. If it was sexually explicit, there is simply no way a reasonable person can equate that to dropping a ball lightly on to the side of a batsman's prostrate body, and de Kock should be suspended.
It's interesting that all of this footage was clearly leaked to the SA media to try to damage Warner. We haven't learnt anything about Warner that we don't already know. All it's done is alert us to the darkness in de Kock's soul that I for one never knew about previously (though, as I previously said, Channel 9 were reporting that this is not the first time he's said whatever he said). Is that really the best they can dredge up? Warner calling de Kock a "f***ing sook"? Kids in the primary-school playground say worse things than that. (Not that I condone swearing, but people are only very selectively offended by swearing in this day and age.)
And people like Mohammed Moosajee and Ottis Gibson can also be added to the Hall of Shame to take their places beside De Kock and Faf du Plessis, for trying to excuse such disgraceful behaviour. Shame on all four of them. Gibson is quoted as saying: ""If I’m walking trying to get to my dressing room and somebody is being restrained how can you fine me for something?" The media should have replied: "Has it occurred to you, Ottis, you complete idiot, that maybe he had to be restrained because De Kock said some unprintable filth about his wife?"
Update:
Warner has called De Kock's words "vile" and "disgusting". Again, not the sort of words even a biased party would use for regular rude insults. New footage of Tim Paine's actions at the time are also, in my opinion, damning evidence against De Kock. I'd say now it is highly likely that De Kock said a sexually explicit, obscene slur against Warner's wife. Just disgraceful.
And Sharda Ugra can go and join the Hall of Shame for claiming that Ottis Gibson's words were "poetic". He makes mealy-mouthed excuses ("where is the line...who sets the line...?" etc.) for clearly demeaning, probably sexually explicit, comments about a woman, and Sharda (who one would be tempted to think should know better, being a woman) thinks that's poetic? What is the world of cricket coming to? Shame on her. |

Deano would accuse me, as he accuses Simpson, of wanting batsman to be completely shotless, but it doesn't seem sensible to me for Bancroft to continue wafting when he's wafted and missed a few times in quick succession, especially so close to lunch. Is he suffering ultra-delayed concussion from Bairstow's headbutt? |
