France 1:0. It was like watching Arsenal play Leeds in the 1970s.

A great parody of soccer staging in this old skit by the late Marty Feldman ...

It was terrible, wasn’t it ? Like playing football against a brick wall.

I can get interested in soccer at World Cup time because I live surrounded by the national obsession with England's fortunes, but it’s a game of explosive highs with intolerably long periods of Thierry ennui. I can’t see it catching on...

While watching some of the Geelong and Sydney game last night however I was left wondering if a nil all game of soccer between two world class sides is still a much better spectacle than a game of AFL where the winning side has 17 more scoring shots and yet only wins by 2 goals.
...

If no competent team makes the final, it will be just like AFL...

(Is Croatia not competent?
Did Mr. Southgate's chompers always look this huge?)

Well, we have a competent team in the final.

England have won the right to play Belgium for third. Croatia will play France in the Final and win 4:0.

Croatia 2, England 1. England led for most of the game after scoring in the first 5 minutes but finally went behind early in the second period of extra time.

The ghost of Zvoni Boban walks....

Cracking game this morning! Should be a ripper final where, hopefully, Croatia can reverse the result from '98 and beat the French.
