We are very lucky this bloke doesn't get any limelight and doesn't seem to seek it! If anyone else had kicked that volley in the goal square it would be front page! |

I think Checkers is deeply appreciative of the late opportunity and seeks to do everything to prolong it for as long as possible. |

Post subject: Some random Brody Mihocek goalkicking stats | |
|
I was just having a look at the leading goalkickers so far this season, and Mihocek is sitting in equal sixth with 25 goals – only Charlie Curnow (36), Jeremy Cameron (34), Tom Hawkins (29), Joe Daniher and Charlie Cameron (both 28) have more.
But what's particularly impressive: together with Nick Larkey, who also has 25 goals and 6 behinds to his name, Mihocek is the equal most accurate of any player in the top 30 leading goalkickers. That's over 80% conversion. You have to go all the way down to Jacob van Rooyen (13.3) for a more accurate strike rate. Interestingly, this hasn't always been a consistent facet of his game – just two years ago, under Buckley and Harvey, he kicked 34.34 for the season, and last year he had a more humble return of just over 61%. It'll be interesting to see if this continues.
Either way, Mihocek is well on his way to his highest ever goal tally. His previous record was 41, last season; if he plays every match and maintains his current rate of 2.5 goals per game, he could have 57 before we even hit finals. We haven't had any player kick 50 goals in a season for us since Travis Cloke in 2013, so that would be an awesome achievement if he makes it. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

In q2 yesterday when he kicked the goal from the Bobby Hill run-bounce-candy sell pass he nonchalantly turned to the cheer squad and pointed his finger immediately after the ball left his boot. That was a tight angle and he flushed it. _________________ It's never as good/nor bad as it seems... |

Another curious stat: just three weeks ago, before we played Sydney, Brody was merely the fifth-highest career goalkicker on our current list, behind Elliott (237), Pendlebury (188), Sidebottom (188) and De Goey (182). Since then, he's passed those last three players and now sits second only to Jamie with 190 goals. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I'm no stats man, but I suspect that Checkers goal kicking is being assisted by our more frequent and efficient inside 50 deliveries and our overall higher scoring. |

Ironically we are ranked #14th for scoring according to Kingy it’s our defensive structures which are killing teams off we are #1 _________________ Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!

It may just be perception but I think he's also getting shots closer to goal than in the past. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

He’s pretty much the beneficiary of everything good that’s happening further up the ground. He’s also surrounded by a lot of smart forwards who now know where to go and what to do when the ball is coming in. The subtle blocks that are going on around him when the ball is coming in is a credit to the players knowing their roles and where their team mates are. His accuracy has suddenly improved and the return of Cox, Cameron and maybe McStay will only mean more one on one opportunities. As David pointed out, he’s well on his way to a career best goal kicking tally in a season. |

IMO he looks more confident taking set shots at goal this year, perhaps compared to last couple of seasons? _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

Awesome year to Mihocek, again playing as undersized KPF, with sidekick McStay missing for most of 2023.
Still took many hit-up leads outside F50 and up onto wing, to create scoring chains.
His contribution yesterday simply cannot be measured in stats alone, his mere presence was a pain in Brisbanes arse.

I love him.
He is such a magnificent player.
He is effort, talent, leadership rolled into one.
I just love the way he defuses stupid opposition harrassment with his facial expressions and gestures, ensuring that they get the picture of how idiotic their actions are. Or, of calming our younger forwards when then need it. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!
