The hysteria about a second year player and the desire to make an example of someone so young, inexperienced and by all reports clumsy in what has transpired, makes me ashamed to be of the same species. I can only imagine what their opinions would be if it was either their son or a friend. Yes, it’s not ideal, but if there is a logical, truthful explanation then I don’t see what the fuss is about really. I get the integrity of betting on one’s own game, with insider info, etc. and if that has what has transpired, then yeah, he’s in a sh!tload of trouble. But if the real story is what I’ve heard, then making an ‘example’ out of someone to prove integrity, etc. is preposterous and I dare say the AFLPA will have their time in the sun.
