You guys obviously don’t go to the TAB very often, these guys are in there all day. As are the coaches. |

The sky is falling the sky is falling.
Just another first world problem. Get over it. He'll be a better role model for future young players coming through on the topic, you can bet on that.
The young man made a victim less crime according to the afl, the same organization that treats there custodians as criminals.
Imagine what stevo is going through right now. The guy needs shelter and compassion and thankfully the club is there for him. _________________ no second chances |

So, he didn't even place the bet himself? Might have been a good idea to have just kept quiet about it then unless someone else decided they were going to dob him in??? So he went to the AFL on the front foot?
I find so much of this just bewildering.... All players must know that it's against AFL rules to bet on the game in any fashion. This makes me wonder why he would then go ahead and do it. To feel part of a peer group? The thrill of doing something risky/against the rules? These are perfectly "normal" reasons behind any young person making a poor decision.
However, the environment of being a young star of AFL football would be very abnormal one in so many respects. |

Ok ok ok news just in
Stephenson was in a betting syndicate with friends & someone placed this bet on his behalf. So with that fact he approached the AFL with this info. Should result in a fine however the Club’s new stance on sports gambling I think they may just chuck him a week. |
This actually seems the most logical explanation. _________________ Est. 2002 |

Well said st.
This is the same organisation which promotes gambling with its constant bombardment of ads during games. The hypocrisy is mind boggling. |

Online gambling advertising should be banned, same as cigarette advertising. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Most AFL players are thick as a brick. |
Mate, you should listen to the NRL players on Qld and NSW news, after training sessions. Dumb as bags of hammers. _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

I haven't read any previous posts.
Haven't heard the latest.
The only time a player should be scrutinesed (how the fck do u spell it) for placing a bet, is if, it's on an opposition player or team they are playing against.
Punting is fun, the TV stations broadcast a Sportsbet ad at every opportunity during a game. Of course, there's people with gambling issues, but a bloke in a betting syndicate, doing something perfectly legal, coming under this sort of scrutiny, is ^&$£%^$%& ridiculous!! _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

Shouldn't bet at all on any game they can influence. He bets Pendles get the most possessions and then gifts Pendles a number of cheap possessions.
That's not on.
Probably going to cost Stepho the rest of 2019. It was a bad decision, but not as bad as drugs, so I guess that's something. |

If the AFL start about the integrity of the game, I will lose sh*t.
What he has done is dumb but plenty of young people gamble, unfortunately.
There is a gambling club at St Kevs mostly year 12s.
