The only top 12 teams we play twice are Essendon and Richmond apparently. No excuse next year.
Of the top 6, Richmond the Premiers only play Geelong and Adelaide twice. Go figure? _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Richmond and Essendon both had soft draws this year and made finals,
We played the 4 preliminary finalists from 2016 in the first 8 rounds this year, which didn't exactly help our start. We finished the year off well, so hopefully with a soft draw we can get some momentum early and then, who knows what could happen.
If you showed Richmond's premiership team to someone at the start of the year, you'd have been laughed at. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

So, if correct, we double up 3 times against this years bottom 5.
Guess we get Carlton twice, and twice from one of Brisbane and Gold Coast and twice from one of Freo and North.
Guessing it will be Freo and Brisbane as they would be the harder options. |

And let's not forget that Richmond played 3 of this years bottom 5 twice - Carlton, Brisbane and Freo twice, although not all of them were bottom 5 in the prior year. |

We are quite capable of losing to anyone on any given day so I take little comfort from this. We just need to improve.
It is a FIXTURE, not a draw. _________________ All We Can Be |

We know the AFL is run as a business and the word fair is not a consideration but if it is true that the premiers in Richmond only play two of the top six sides twice then that is a disgrace. Who put the fixture together Kevin Bartlett? _________________ People forget that our last premiership was only 2010 and rebuilds take some time. 2018 we play finals again. |

Think that this is how it was always planned.
You play your own group of 6 2 or 3 times, and then 1 or 2 times from the other 2 groups.
Hence we get 3 in our group and 1 in each of the 2 other groups.
Never perfect, but it is an attempt to try make it fairer. Doesn't always work that way as we got Essendon twice this year as they finished last, but they weren't really the worst side in the comp once all their players came back. |

It is being reported that we will have only one Friday night game. It is obvious that our performances and game style do not warrant being given that time, but it would be interesting to know what our Friday night ratings were compared to the preferred teams. I assume that the broadcast network has had a major hand in that decision. Strange times when the network wants to maximise its advertising revenue by not broadcasting our games. |

So going by that we'll play .....
Either Geelong or Richmond twice, Essendon, Carlton, North & Melbourne twice.
Adelaide, GWS, Sydney, Port, West Coast, Saints, Dogs, Hawks, Freo, GC & Brisbane once. |

The Draw is irrelevant if you lose games that you should win. |

I heard we are only slated to play Friday nights once, then on the AFL website it says three but I just checked the draw and we play four - Carlton, Adelaide, Footscray and Fremantle , in the last round. Fair enough I suppose. _________________ Jonno

Very well said, thing that has always annoyed me about this time of year is fans winging and moaning about the draw.
It comes down to your team......If the side is hopeless, well they could put us in the VFL and we would still finish bottom 4.....we get what we deserve.
Do you think the great Hawthorn side or Brisbane in the early 2000's or for that matter the Pies of 2011 complained about the draw?....no way they just rocked up and ripped apart who ever they faced, where ever it was.
Some people also need to use a little forward thinking.....this complaining that öh Richmond only face x side that was in the top 8 2017 x many times is ridiculous"
My answer is ....... the side that are top.8 of 2017 are not going to be the same sides of 2018 ....some side fall away and will become the easy beats (not the band) of 2018. While some of the bottom 8 will become far stronger. By this logic if the AFL gave Richmond 2 games against each of this years top 8, next year some on here would be back complaining that Richmond got to play the "easy"teams of 2018 somehow and it is all "rigged".
At the end of the day it simply comes back to the original point that Culprit made.....if your team is freaking any good....your draw is meaningless as you don't care who you play, or when you play them, as they hold no fear.
Like i say in 2018 we get what we deserve. dish up garbage performances and we get garbage results ah la our match against Carlton round 7 this year. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |
