Thanks Travis for what your brought to the game, the club and our lives. You've been a genuine star mate. All the best with whatever is next in your life.

I notice he went out with a heartfelt comment on the role social media plays in making life difficult for young men who just want to play a game. It is incredible that remote, weak-minded individuals who have never played the game seriously can have such an effect on a man who has achieved so much.

So long, Travis, and thanks for everything. You were a true great of the game and of the black-and-white jumper.

Trav at his peak is what I loved, despite his goal kicking. Trav in his later years pissed me off and I feel this was due to the influence of his Father. Trav is basically forced into retirement due to the Dogs recruiting strategies and it would have been the same with us. Premiership Player and a great clubman. Best Wishes Trav.

A Collingwood great. The Wayne Carey of his generation. A beast on the field. If you look at the love from his team mates off the field, an even better bloke (unlike Carey). Well done on a great career Trav. Life membership beckons. Now make sure you and Becky produce some boys!

I'll never forget his last game for the Pies in that final home and away match against the Hawks. There was a doleful feeling around the ground as it was rumoured that Travis wouldn't be there the following year. Late in the game he kicked a goal and tugged on his Collingwood jumper and that's when I knew that he was saying goodbye. I think Collingwood meant everything to him and still does. His one season at the Bulldogs won't be remembered forty years from now. We love you, Trav! I hope you stumble upon this thread so that you can see how much affection there is for you.

And no one remembers Len Thompson playing for Fitzroy and Sth Melbourne.

Congratulations to Travis on a fantastic career.

I still remember the hype around him when he was first drafted in 2004 and his debut on ANZAC Day in 2005, so to see him develop and flourish was fantastic and I love the fact that he was a part of our premiership team in 2010.

His kicking for goal left us scratching our heads at times, but his contested marking ability was excellent, something which I think was underrated by the wider football media.

I think it's sometimes forgotten that he won the Copeland Trophy in 2007 at the age of 20, which demonstrated that he was an early bloomer. I think Travis' best football was between 2011 and 2013, and he began to decline from 2014 onwards when the game as a whole was starting to evolve and big marking forwards were not as important as they were years prior.

Disappointing his career didn't end with us, but he'll always be remembered as a Collingwood champion and I remember him appearing on The Footy Show earlier this year and displaying affection toward our club, which is something I haven't forgotten.

He was a class act, and I wish him all the best in retirement.

Champion player for Collingwood, and I was sorry to see him go to the Dogs...

Good luck with whatever he plans to do. I loved watching him play in Black and White.
