Well trendsetters Arrow it's been almost 2 months since I drove out of my outback life. 13 years of living more than half my life away from home.
And I feel great! Cool

The time I've been able to spend with my family, especially now having our absolutely gorgeous granddaughter, a grandson due in May and another one in June... is amazing to say the least.

So much change and I couldn't possibly put it all into one (half tanked) post. But a thing that I've really noticed is my relationship with my youngest (17) daughter. She's the only daughter (of 3) still at home.... and she's not used to me being home every night.
Jess was 3 when I started FIFO, I've been home for 4 Christmas days with her, I've missed every teenage birthday party she's had.

It's just different.

Well, well, well.... The new job is a grind, I can't stand the traffic, I hate only having a 2 day break, Bunnings is much better during the week, my pay drop is unbearable..... so.

I sent my resume to a few mining companies last week. Had an Interview with Atlas Iron this morning that went awesome. They rang me an hour later and I have a medical on the 2nd of January Cool 12 days on 9 days off, right near the hottest place in Australia Marble Bar... yeah boi! Very Happy

Cheers Jezza!

I was really struggling with the change and if I can really knuckle down this time I could be retired by 55.

This is actually what happened with my current job! The total time between applying, getting the interview, being notified that I had the job and actually starting work was about ten days. I’m guessing that’s very unusual, but sometimes you’re just in the right place at the right time.

Sounds great. Are you enjoying your current job, David?

Very much so! I’m editing a film magazine aimed at high school teachers and students. Brings together many of my passions in life, and gives me a great deal of creative freedom. I’m very lucky. Smile

It's funny the way things fall in to place! There are a few people I know who work there and I knew that one of the plumbers had recently left.

Believe me, I was surprised to get the job an hour after the interview!

Without blowing my own trumpet, my experience in plumbing on mine sites would be as rare as rocking horse shit. Cool

Goodonya Skids, I'm sure the missus will be glad to get you out of the house. Wink

Retiring at 55 would be great, but i can't get my super til I'm 60 so I'll have to work on the options between now and then.
