Darcy Moore - Back or Forward?

Been reading a few things recently about Darcy Moore in 2018.

Heard his Dad on SEN criticizing our game plan and delivery, and now Mick McGuane is talking about keeping him forward. What do you guys think?

I don't know if I am ready to give up Darcy as a forward. I'd like to see him get another year, and some better delivery before throwing him down back. Thoughts?

Someone has to play forward who is a recognised forward.
Everybody thinks our forward line is ordinary and our mid and back lines good.
So if not Darcy who????

I think that putting him back is a short term stratagy in developing his defensive pressure, give him confidence and allow his body and mind to mature so that he can endure the demands of being a key forward.

Darcy has enormouse potential and I believe the stratagy has merit.

I'd like to think the logic is to protect him down back until his body matures a bit more, he's getting mauled as the solo key forward.

Reid can play forward and has the strength to hold his own, so let him do that with Darcy down back for a season or 2. Can always swap them around if needed.

I'm sure the club has a plan with the future in mind. If ain't working out, then we just push him forward again.
As an old former coach used to say " you can always find a spot for a good footballer "

Playing Darcy in defence in 2018 suggests very strongly to me that we are confident of getting Tom Lynch for next year. Assuming Cox continues to develop, he and Lynch could form our twin towers up forward for the next 5 years, with Darcy holding down centre half back. I also suspect the club is not banking on getting more than 1 or maybe 2 more years out of Reid.

Remember, that Reid came to us as a forward, but became an AA defender. So while I've got no doubt that Darcy could become a top forward for us, it may just be that the club's needs will require him to play predominantly down back.

He's definitely put on weight since last year, but whenever I watched him he has been part of the rehab group so I don't know what's going on with him.

Mick McGuane however should shut up because like me, he doesn't know what's going on with Moore. The club knows what's it's doing and we should all be reserving judgement until we see how it pans out with Moore. I think one of the problems with Buckley when he began his senior coaching career was that he had too many people helping him out and he played it too safely. I have the feeling now Buckley is doing it his way and the club and all it's supporters are better for it. Moore like Daniher is a potential match winner and I see Essendon is training Daniher to have a more defensive side. We do the same thing with Moore and people want to criticise the coach. People wanted to criticise Buckley over Cloke's decline as a player, but Cloke's career didn't revive when Cloke went to the Bulldogs.
