The Jeremy Howe/Rupert Wills ins for Ben Kennedy and Paul Seedsman looks better and better.

Howe alone is a win compared to Lez and Kennedy

He was always too slow to make it in AFL and that's a bust for me whoever we traded back for him.

And who wasted a first round pick on Kennedy?

Check that draft and the subsequent 10+ picks. It's not like we got it drastically wrong, there wasn't anybody of substance drafted after him. The best player after him that isn't a FS is like, probably Tim Membrey or Kamdyn McIntosh...

This draft should serve as a perfect reminder to people why giving up a second rounder for a bloke like Watts is a pretty safe bet.

That's just not right at all. There's plenty of good players you can pick up with a second round draft pick. Look at the history of the draft.

Reread my post. I didn't say you couldn't get a good player with a second round draft, I just said that draft is a good example of why someone like Jack Watts, a proven AFL performer, is a relatively safe bet for a second rounder.

Plenty of players drafted after Kennedy who are still playing. In that draft we only got the Brodie Grundy pick right. But considering every pundit in the land thought Brodie was the best big man in the draft. Wasn't a Einstein pick that one. All the clubs above us wanted mids or kpp.

Nothing safe at all picking up Jack Watts with a second rounder if it doesn't work out (after all he couldn't get a game at Melbourne) and you've just missed out drafting a player with that pick, who might have ended up playing 200 games for you. You need to call it for what it is, namely a gamble.

Has anyone ever been wrong in hindsight ?

Every club makes mistakes at the draft. GWS picked Jono Orourke at pick # TWO in that draft
It's just that some supporters get more joy from highlighting the wrongs rather than the rights.

Bad luck for Ben Kennedy & H.

We obviosuly did well out of the trade process. Ben was talked of highly at the time of drafting.

H got concussed too many times .... no hold the wedding .... dont post the all too obvious. Resist temptation.

H was a premiership player for & played a few half decent games for them.

BK played a couple of decent games for them against us if I recall at at least one!

Good luck to BK

Hope BK develops as a player

Love trading with Melbourne. Wonder what we could throw out for Watts? Perhaps they need a CEO G Pert. Haha

Could have grabbed James Stewart [like we were advised] with this pick Hine pissed against the wall on Kennedy.
I mean he could find the ball no problem, then deliver it lace-out to the opposition.

I'd laugh if the Crows pick him up later on...

Where? In the SANFL?

I didn't realize he'd got all those tattoos... Must have thought he was still at Collingwood, or has that spread to Melbourne too?
