I'm not sure if this is good in the long term. Ideally, I'd want homing Pies to learn as much as possible before returning. It's not clear what skills he's gained doing what he did at the Giants, i.e. in a small role at an inexperienced institution.

He said several years back that he has CEO aspirations. Maybe that's his long term goal.

More OD Manager; Organisation Development. The way it reads he'll be working with the staff as much as the playing groups.

Maxwell has lots of admirable traits you want installed in a playing group but given his role isn't specific to our men's football side I'm not sure how much of a difference maker it'll be.

It kind of feels like we've created a position for him that perhaps is excess to our immediate requirements and it's as much a good PR decision as one that will help turn around our on field fortunes.

It's the cherry on top if you like when we still haven't finished baking the cake.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against it as such but it all depends how much substance the role with have and what positive influence it can provide for the coaches and players.

Regardless of his actual role, it's important to have good quality people around the club, whose very presence will have a positive impact on the general atmosphere and vibe around the place. I can see him being groomed to become our CEO in about 5 yrs.

I recall Tom Harley saying Nick was the.best captain in AFL for setting example to other players

Now he is here to teach a new gen how to guts it out and be cool in a crisis

Who can forget hi gutsy and cool marks in dying stages of GF one

Not on the field but prepare them as season unfolds

Welcome back Nick

I hope so. Last time we won a flag and we're one bad quarter away from 2.

I doubt it, he hasn't been working in coaching, he's been working in leadership and has completed an MBA. His future is in Administration, not coaching.

Two rookies who went on to stamp themselves as quality team players and
leaders in their club--not down the top ten pick road but the hard work ethic one

Matty Boyd and Nick Maxwell and ya know what they are ours and I am so happy our kids have these men to show them not just the way but the right way

CEO I'd imagine. Not sure if there is a tier between CEO and managers in their structure. So NFI.

Yeah. I don't care what his role is. I just want him back at the club.

Great addition to the team. Great leader and boy do we need leadership.

My only concern is that he is split across the AFL, AFLW and Netball teams. Surely at the Storm and Giants he only had to focus on the football team. Any time spent on the other teams is time taken away from our AFL team is my view. Make it 100% AFL. Get another resource to look after the other teams.

Nevertheless I hope he can bring some of that Storm IP home. Welcome home captain.

Maxwell as leadership person at the club the have achieved sucsess --now we want the same
