I think he was going for the ball. Ten years ago it would not have raised a comment. In the new PC correct non contact version of a contact sport it is a true issue. Like the Pies, the Tigers are an old established and tradional Victorian club and they will not receive ant favours from the manipulative AFL. I am sure the AFL would be hopining for an Adelaide win which is good for the all important national game _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |

apparently there's a loop hole that might save him. screw that. his head high hit resulted in an opposing player being knocked out and spending the remainder of the game on the pine. if the head is sacrosanct then it's sacrosanct not because ol cotchy deserves to play based on some sentimentality bollocks. walk the plank cotchy you turd. |

^THE HEAD IS ONLY SACROSANT IF IT INVOLVES A COLLINGWOOD PLAYER, who did the bump. Fact. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Whatever anyone's opinion, there's no need to turn this into a Collingwood whinge fest. It appears that Sheil's concussion was caused by a later incident with David Astbury. I didn't think Cotchin has a case to answer for the incident either. It looked like he was going for the ball and got down as low as he could. Good luck to him if he plays. |

Such vitriol is amazing.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to give Richmond any favours.
Bur if Cotchin is suspended for that, the game is irreparably stuffed.
He has every right to not only contest the ball, but to protect himself at the same time. The head contact was incidental.
The rule states "if a player chooses to bump". Well I would argue all day, that the ball was right there and in fact, Cotchin touched it first, so his first intention was NOT to bump. _________________ Jatsad - That is all |

If he was attempting a bump he'd get 2 weeks, but as he went in low it's clear his hands were extended to grab the ball. |
BUT, Shiel was concussed, unable to play, ala Grundy incident, make NO mistake, if this was a Magpie, hed be out on his arse, its sniper Cotchins 3rd time up for chrissakes, in the one season. Rigged absolutely. |
It all depends on whether his intent was to bump or to get the ball. If his intention was to bump, then the head injury means he is gonski. So when tackling or bumping, the onus is on the tackler/bumper to ensure it doesn't injure a player's head. If it does then the player must get rubbed out. In this instance, however, it looked to me that Cotchin was diving in low to get the ball. It's a fine line I guess, but when I saw it on TV, my forst thought was that it was just an accidental knock in pursuit of the ball. |
I agree that he should and will get off.
Brandon Ellis is in more trouble. May get off with a fine depending on the impact. _________________ Well done boys! |

For Gods sake, the guy was concussed, could take NO further part in the Final. Cotchin is a SERIAL offender, a SNIPER, three strikes , your OUT. IF he played for us, hed get TWO weeks, make NO mistake bout that !! But, he wont, as the AFL has more rackets going than Al Capone, corrupt to its core. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

He’s guilty. Any myopic octogenarian can see that.
This means he’ll get off and play on Saturday. _________________ President - Coffs Harbour Collingwood Supporters Assoc. Inc. |

Two wrongs don't make a right.
Both had nothing to answer for. THE MRP is a disgrace but you need to accept that they are part of the AFL which is built around political agendas and manipulation and run by legal professionals. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |
