I'm sure fellow Nicks posters will join with me & wish Cariline Wilson hearfelt congratulations for winning a journalism prize for her article on Heretier Lamumba and racism and in particular too for the wonderful photo by Fairfax on Bucks post the Lou Richards funeral.

".....Chief football writer Caroline Wilson was judged Most Outstanding Feature Writer, for her interviews with former AFL player Heritier Lumumba, who described his experiences of racism during his career...."

"...Photographer Eddie Jim's image of a solitary Nathan Buckley in the aftermath of Lou Richards' funeral was judged the Most Outstanding News/Feature Photograph...."

I wish I could get a job like Caroline's where I could use a substantial media outlet to barrack for my own personal obsessions.

Just another example of Caro using any possible scrap to stick it to Collingwood.

I still can't get over the fact that there are award ceremonies for these bottom feeders!!! Their whole industry is corrupt and agenda driven!!

ok, I'm missing whatever it is that's outstanding about a photo of a person walking down the street. Can someone enlighten me?

Funny that. I thought it was a terfific photograph. For me it showed a quite pensive looking man, alone deep in his thoughts walking against the flow. I thought it was a ripper of a shot.

It's a decent pic, but surprising that it's a prizewinner. The competition must've been light, which is not surprising given the narrowness of the category...

Best photo in the 'news/feature photograph' category of the AFL media awards.

What's that? Eight contenders? Here's some seriously good photos for comparison...

Never said you were alone, but lemmings used to run half way across Europe to jump into the sea and drown too.

Actually, it seems that they were pushed off cliffs for the film footage (as to which, see, eg: http://mentalfloss.com/article/50957/do-lemmings-really-run-cliffs-their-death ). But carry on.
