trouble with not playing 4 quarters and identifying those responsible is that people are going to end up not liking or agreeing with those that are not pulling their weight. You may have a player that has flashes of brilliance or a player that will take a great grab but if the problems are those players are not running to cover space or moving to create dummy leads, laying tackle that don't stick, that is where the 4 quarter efforts are being eroded. Really hard to identify and fix - hopefully they realize and some unselfish, team oriented football starts to happen. Not that I think we have a real problem but it is there.

younger players really struggle with consistency. Can you see how Adams and even Maynard are getting more consistent as they mature. Hopefully, as everyone hits the prime, more 4 quarter efforts will be forthcoming. Let's hope so anyway!

Yes, because we need 8 more guys playing consistently AFL-standard football, so that we can field a full senior AFL team most weeks. The alternative is to see if we can match finishing 13th again.

by and large, i agree with that assessment. Hopefully 4 of the 8 are already in the system and just need more experience (guys like DeGoey, Moore, Scharenberg, Aish Broomhead and the like should start to be consistent 4 quarter contributers starting next year). This year these guys looked like rockstars in patches and no where to be seen at other times.

i feel like Crisp, Grundy, Maynard and Adams became consistent 4 quarter guys this year and WHE started to become that in the latter part of the season.

Add them to Pendles, Treloar, Sidey, Elliot, Howe, Dunn, Varcoe, Goldsack, Langdon, who have been 4 quarter performers for a while now, and you start to have a team that could play their best for longer.

We'll see what happens.
