Ed Richards an Oakleigh Charger 18 year old 187cm 77 kg midfield

Grandson of Ron Richards and great nephew of Lou is touted in the top 20
draft picks

May never get to us tho

Pity the father son rule wasn't also a grandfather son. Sad

Dashing mop of red hair and a running half back type. Commented on in the latest Road to the Draft poddy. Only recently being touted as a higher pick ... so we will see. No FS discount so i can't see the Club favouring him over a better unconnected player.

What! He's a ranga? No way. If we sign him up then ten years from now he'll be the subject of a self-obsessed doco claiming that other players called him Ginger and hurt his feelings.

It is a pity that there is no grandfather/grandson rule. If Ed Richards is drafted by one of the other 17 teams that will make two grandsons of players from the 1953 Premiership team not playing for their grandfather's club.

I swear if Melbourne get him, I will puke!

But I've seen articles about possible draftees before. I've seen them say "this player" will be a top 20 pick... and then they go around pick 60 or not at all.

See: Jonty Scharenberg.

Anyway, it'd be nice to get him to the club if he really is rated that highly. I'm sentimental like that... it's why I'm always banging on about Weideman/Picken/Stewart/and now Kelly. But I know that isn't the recruitment strategy, haha.

Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye on him to see where he ends up and at what pick.

Billy Morrison was the grandson of Lou. That went well.

I know Lou's daughter was named Nicole Morrison but I am pretty sure that Billy Morrison of Tasmania was not Nicole's son or Lou's grandson.
