I am happy for Fasolo to go if we get a similar-standard player in return but I We've put 7 seasons of development into Fasolo and he should be about to reach his peak. That is most definitely the wrong time to lose him. If he's part of a good deal, that's fine but if he's part of a "cut our losses and get what we can - better a draft pick than nothing" deal, it will just set us back (only a little, of course - because we are already coming from quite a way back). |
don't want him to go for a late first-round or second-round draft pick.
Really??? What pick 5 is your sense of equity?? |
You completely misunderstand my point.
If we trade out a player who is about to go into the peak part of his career for a child who won't be able to make a mark for several seasons, it will put us back. The suggestion that one can get "equity" by trading a good, solid player for the potential to pick someone who will eventually be better in the draft is a crock. Of course Fasolo will not attract pick 5 - my point is that if we trade him out for a late first rounder a second rounder, we will lose on the deal because we will be one more player away from being able to field a competent senior team. Perhaps not by 2020 or so - but life is short and promises are cheap.
You can disagree with what I'm saying - but it isn't complex and shouldn't take too much thinking to understand me (especially since I had already said it). |

If Faz wants out to go home let him but not for peanuts. I hope he stays. Blokes who Consistently kick multiple goals week in week out don't grow on trees. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

If we can get a second rounder from Freo, I would take that. |
From that list, only Elliot is a current top 22 AFL standard player (which incidentally, so is Fas).
Crocker and Blair don't come into that top 22 list either.
So, we are left with just Elliot.
Hardly a surplus of small forwards.
Losing Fas is only acceptable if we get a ready made key forward (i.e Stringer or similar).
Fas also adds a bit of personality along with classy skills to the team, which we don't have an over abundance of.

Maybe I have been reading posts from "Hall" too often but when you succinctly state that you don't want Fasolo to go for a good draft pick such as end of first round or early second round pick, it does lend itself to scrutiny and fairly perplexing. _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

You should feel free to re-read my entire post. Part of the problem seems to be that you accidentally deleted bits of it when you quoted me. But there's probably not much point - Tannin has already made the arguments that you would make, albeit eloquently and without the point-scoring. |

If Faz wishes to return home for personal reasons that's fair enough IMO. Clubs can get rid of players at whim these days so a player leaving shouldn't be the end of the world to supporters.
Faz is talented for sure but he's also frustrating as hell at the same time.
Whether he plays the role by coaching instructions or its just the way he wants to play the role it doesn't work consistently for us.
He would be worth a second rounder at a minimum if they don't have a player we want and can land who fits in to our best 25-30 players automatically. |

While I don't see WC looking to trade Darling as some rumours suggest I think most would agree his worth is greater than that of Fasolo.
If Darling to Collingwood was to occur the only way I see it happening is Pick 6 + Fasolo for Pick 13* + Darling or we look to trade pick 6 to Brisbane for 12+18 and work a deal around one of those picks and Fasolo. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Darling would be our biggest forum whipping-boy forward since Dawes; White got off easy, truth be told... _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

Yes, I'd be seriously disappointed if Collingwood recruited Darling. He is so easily tagged out of the game, it defies belief. He always looks like he should be a good player but does little. |

I like Faz... but with; Jamie, Kirby and Daics as our small forwards, surely a trade of some sort is worth a look? _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

Tom Lamb: 1 game in three years and out of contract. Worth almost as much as Fas who is under contract?
I remember I was big on us drafting Lamb, possibly as a first rounder. Not one of my best couch scouting moments. _________________ Well done boys! |
