I was thinking the same.

Rivers obviously contracted --that man after an indifferent start got the VFL boys playing good footy

I'm not convinced he would make a good coach.

Magpies announce program changes

Collingwood Football Club has made a further two changes to its football program, with High Performance Manager Bill Davoren and Development Coach Anthony Rocca not offered contracts for the 2018 AFL season.

It follows the departure yesterday of Assistant Coach Scott Burns.

What's Luke Ball up to these days? Would love to have him around the club again.

Exactly right. Surprised Harvey stays on.

Is this club serious? If they are keeping Buckley (which they are) wasn't it supposed to be a cleanup. Get some new innovative assistants that can throw some ideas around that Buckley may actually listen to.

I think Davoren has been hard done by and underrated by a lot of people on this site. I actually think Davoren has done a fantastic job while he's been at the helm. If you disregard the first year when everybody broke down, since that time there has been a downward trend of soft tissue injuries at the club. I hope Davoren got a good reference from the club and has somewhere to go to.

I keep saying there are too many people on the coaching staff who are ex-mids. We need more people with experience in other areas of the field. Harvey out and Hird in makes plenty of sense to me,

Wouldn't take him even if he came with no price tag, the club did everything it could for him, stood by him through his injuries, for him to turn around and request a trade? Pfffft no thanks. We have plenty of depth in that area.

Glad to see the back of Davoren but why has it taken so long?

We settled for second best right from the start.

Not enough of a clean out for mine and would have liked to see Harvey and Lockyer go also.

I'd sack all the assistant coaches, pay the tax for a season and start again.

Senior assistant - Brett Ratten
Offensive coach - David Teague
Midfield coach - Nigel Lappin
Defensive coach - Leigh Tudor
Senior Development coach - John Blakey
Assistant Development coach - Luke Hodge

Others: S.Lloyd, Francou, Bassett, Kirk, Smith, Nicks, Kingsley

Well okay I'm over reaching and I know we wont be seeing such a star studded lineup though we definitely need to be looking towards some of those names otherwise what's the point?

If we do appoint Roos in the role of coaching director he's likely to command a pay packet equal to or exceeding that of Buckley so Rudeboy and I might be the only ones left they can afford.

I'll work for meat pies, chocolate and a blow on Rudeboy's trumpet.

Firstly, I hope trumpets not a metaphor! Not that there's anything wrong with that Jerry! Secondly, not a bad line up, thirdly, I still have a couple of days left in Hawaii, anyone got Roos address here?

And well, what can you say, are some of you seriously ok with drug cheat Hird coming on board? The man is the scum of the earth, how low will you go? No $$%^%%$ way is that acceptable. And what does h gave to offer? A fake tan antidote? No.just NO
