It's going to be a long off season.

The only name that I am hearing with any regularity, is Jason McCartney.
He would certainly bring some solid I P from the Dogs.

Won't be as a coach. Would be as List Manager, with Hine demoted back to recruiting/drafting. Which would not be a bad move, actually...

wouldn't matter what his role will be. The name is poison if you are referring to Hird.

McCartney has done a good job with the Bulldogs' list management when they started rebuilding at the end of 2011 and which subsequently led to their premiership in 2016, so I'd be happy to take him if it's possible.

Hine isn't suited as a list manager, which the last few years have shown. His best work is done through identifying and recruiting young talent through the draft. I'd be happy to keep him at the club but not as a list manager.

Agree.

What that means for Rendell and Milesi remains to be seen. But one would probably get the slip...

It would be great to see McGuane back at our club. However, I'd be more pleased to see us snare Luke Hodge, because of his strong leadership qualities as well as his knowledge of the proven Premiership coaching methods at the Hawks.

I'm promoting a 1-2 year play and then asst coach contract. He would have to be one of the most valuable commodities going around from a leadership/IP point of view.

There's no doubting McGuane's footy brain, but the worry is the associated baggage that comes with him.

I'd sack all the assistant coaches, pay the tax for a season and start again.

Senior assistant - Brett Ratten
Offensive coach - David Teague
Midfield coach - Nigel Lappin
Defensive coach - Leigh Tudor
Senior Development coach - John Blakey
Assistant Development coach - Luke Hodge

Others: S.Lloyd, Francou, Bassett, Kirk, Smith, Nicks, Kingsley

Well okay I'm over reaching and I know we wont be seeing such a star studded lineup though we definitely need to be looking towards some of those names otherwise what's the point?

If we do appoint Roos in the role of coaching director he's likely to command a pay packet equal to or exceeding that of Buckley so Rudeboy and I might be the only ones left they can afford.

I'll work for meat pies, chocolate and a blow on Rudeboy's trumpet.

There is only one team. And that team is Collingwood.

I mentioned it yesterday. Hird is coming as an assistant coach. Roos as Director of Coaching.

Is "trumpet" a metaphor?

I said some where else wouldn't mind seeing us lure Hodge he has that bit of mongrel and would be good for the young defenders to work along side
Rohan Smith is also highly rated as a defensive coach
Jason McCarthy would be a great get and Hine to talent identification maybe then Rendell could move into a assistant coaches role
Wouldn't be against us chasing the likes of Lonergan either if he showed a interest in coaching
I couldn't give 2 hoots about the luxury tax to be honest
We will recoup that money and then some if we are successful in memberships, merchandise, gate receipts, sponsorship etc
If we have to cut back on other things we do outside of football (which is and always should be our core business) then so be it.
Just get the best possible team around the coach and see if we can't salvage something from 4 years of mediocrity
If we can make finals the next 2 years and be contending 2020 then all the pain will have been worth it.
