Sumich is certainly an experienced assistant, was at West Coast during a successful period and under Lyon at Fremantle when they made a grand final but his experience as player and coach has been limited to Western Australia and while not necessarily a reason not to install others have more varied experience like a Tudor or are a former senior coach like Ratten who will provide intellectual property gained from a successful Hawthorn era.
If you look at our assistant coach appointments under Buckley none have come from Hawthorn, can't recall any from Sydney either while Sanderson is the only one with his Geelong connection coming from one of the dominant clubs of the past decade.
We really should be looking to appoint assistants currently or recently involved with those 3 clubs plus a resilient Adelaide who have had to deal with the murder of a coach and a playing list plundered for talent in recent years. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
