At the risk of starting a storm, and that it has been done to death, I cannot understand why Blair is still on the list, contracted or not.
If the club is serious, then game time into Brown, Kirby and Brown is a MUST.
They are the future.
Blair would be fantastic as the VFL captain though where he could impart years of experience to those guys. _________________ Jatsad - That is all |

there you all go trying to get Blair de-listed. Jarryd Blair WILL NOT be delisted. He is on of the best 25th men in the league. He provides many tools. Defensive pressure, 100% commitment and can pop up for a goal or 2). Is he in our premiership 22, probably not. But if you focus only on the premiership 22, you will NEVER make the Grand Final. a team needs 5-8 AFL standard players on the list to cover for injuries, etc.
I would be shocked if Blair isn't retained and will be equally shocked if he doesn't play 10 games next season. Just look at round 22 and compare his output to that of Kirby who might be our future but isnt yet ready to be so. Kirby didnt cost us the points against Melbourne, but there were numerous close games we lost this year because we had 2-3 passengers who just werent yet up for the challenge of AFL seniors footy (and yes, i'm including Callum Brown and Rupert Wills in that list).
One of the little spoken about facts of our 2010 run is that we had a squad of blokes like Lockyer, O'Bree, Leon Davis, Josh Fraser and Nathan Brown, who weren't in the best 22, but who helped us get to the big dance.
If Blair is that guy, why not keep him. As you saw last year, he played for a very reasonable one year contract. He is a true pro and he has tonnes of AFL experience.
I might also add that he is a premiership player and so deserves a LOT more respect on this site than he gets. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Because if people took their blinkers off, they might see what he offers. Sheer determination, endless effort, and calm leadership. Work ethic. So sadly lacking these days. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Just thinking about the four players we delisted, confirms to me that the club views that there are a number of KPP's nominated for the national draft that are gettable with our draft selections. Also the fact that we have kept Lynch tells me that we won't be chasing a ruckman in the draft. Richmond won a premiership with a small forward line using Jack Riewoldt more as as defensive forward than as a goal kicking forward. So I figure Buckley plans to use a similar structure in our forward line where the small forwards will kick the goals. As stated by other posters Cox isn't like Riewoldt because he rucks, but I think Buckley is still planning to play Cox as the predominant tall in the forward line to mark or bring the ball to ground and bring the mediums and smalls into play to kick the goals. Guys like Moore are the new age footballers who play all over the ground and play anywhere from FB to FF. Those are the guys that I think we are planning to draft or trade for and I'm hoping Brander can fill that role if the club drafts him with our pick six. |

Buckley has no choice but to play one of Cox/Grundy forward given we are pot committed salary-wise to them and Cox would have been given some level of comfort prior to re-signing.
There are some KPP available as delisted FAS as well so plans in that regard may not be limited to the draft.
My concern with the draft, especially KPPs, is that those players will take some time to be ready and for our list profile we need a KPP (ideally a KPF to support Moore) desperately now. _________________ All We Can Be |

Y the time any 18 or 19 year old KPP is ready to be a bonofide AFL contributor, Pendles will be past it. We don’t have time to wait and waste his talents any longer. No finals for 4 years during Pendles’s prime years is a blight on our club. _________________ Est. 2002 |

Scott Thompson, Jarrad Waite, Ben Jacobs and Declan Mountford have all accepted one-year contract extensions that will keep them at North Melbourne until at least the end of the 2018 season. _________________ All We Can Be |
