Not sure midfield depth is our priority - KPF/KPD (and Ruck if Cox goes) would be I imagine. Someone like a Josh Kelly would be different, but these two I would see as merely depth.

Hocking 30 next season and only 186cm/90kg: https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-essendon-bombers--heath-hocking

Jackson Trengrove 26 and 197cm/97kg: https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-port-adelaide-power--jackson-trengove [edited]

For me, the following provides a bit of insight into what we might be looking for short, medium and longer term:

2017 best team (exposed form) IMO:

F: Fasolo Reid Elliott
HF: Hoskin-Elliott Moore De Goey
C: Sidebottom Treloar Wells
HB: Langdon Goldsack Maynard
B: Howe Dunn Crisp
R: Grundy Pendlebury Adams
Int: Cox Greenwood Phillips Varcoe

Unlikely (>28 yo) to be in the next premiership team (CAPS):

F: Fasolo REID Elliott
HF: Hoskin-Elliott Moore De Goey
C: Sidebottom Treloar WELLS
HB: Langdon GOLDSACK Maynard
B: Howe DUNN Crisp
R: Grundy PENDLEBURY Adams
Int: Cox GREENWOOD Phillips VARCOE

I'm less worried about Wells, Greenwood and Varcoe as we have midfield depth with the likes of De Goey, Maynard and Brown who can move in with their forward roles taken by the likes of Daicos and Kirby as they come on.

Scharenberg will hopefully come on, but is a watch for me and only 191/88 anyway.

The spine (KPD/KPF) is clearly the "hole" we have - I don't think anyone is surprised by that.

If Cox goes, we can ruck Grundy solo (with Moore in support), but we need a backup in the VFL and the need for a taller KPF is greater.

I can see Pendlebury possibly prolonging his career as a third tall type forward.

Jack Watts could do with a fresh start, age fits our profile and he is the size we are after for a KPF or KPB role. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-melbourne-demons--jack-watts

Despite being a former #1 pick his price might be affordable with the chips we have.

You're confusing Jackson Trengove, the Port Adelaide Forward/ Ruckman with Jack Trengove, the Melbourne player.

I don't think Moore should be considered part of our spine. Pendlebury suggested Moore could be played off the wing. He definitely should't be played in the ruck. We lost a string of games playing Moore in the ruck.

We need both a KPB and a KPF. Forget who plays in our next premiership side. You crawl before you walk and we need to get a team going next year before we are going to get anywhere near finals football. I would seriously consider playing Keeffe in a forwards role next year. Should have happened this year. We need to keep Cox and get an experienced key back or forward through free agency. Then draft a key forward or two in the national draft. Another key back would be handy as well. Pity we didn't get Stewart last year. Is there anyone out there still taking the standard club line that Stewart is no good? Go watch a replay of the last Essendon game and then eat your words.

My bad. I'll fix that up.

Will slot into our squad more than anyone else. He wants out, the Dees want him out and deal can be done. We had the same problem with a #1 draft pick in Jason McCartney who nearly played 200 games and would have had he not been burnt so bad in the Bali bombing.
