I saw a VR film for the first time last week at the Melbourne International Film Festival. It was a 40-minute-long American comedy about a family and their toy robot, titled Miyubi. The film itself was nothing amazing, but the experience was incredible – I can only describe it as the feeling of being inside a movie. Like living someone else's life.

Have you had any VR experiences? If so, what were they like? Do you think it's just a gimmick, or will all cinema be like this one day? Personally, I suspect that virtual reality will be a huge part of our lives in the years and decades to come.

I built my PC for VR in mind and if anyone is thinking to go down this path my tips are, the better the hardware makes the better experience. The HTC Vive kit is the way to go at a everyday price of around $1100 and your PC spec has to be a minimum Core i5-4590 CPU and a GeForce GTX 970 GPU. I'm way passed that spec. All I need is FPS games to become full on VR and I may not leave home. Shocked Laughing

As usual, Porn is ahead of the game.

There's at least 3 different VR headsets around, and there's been porn available for them all for at least 2 years.

Watching a normal movie on the Gear VR is still quite trippy.

^ Thankfully VR can only manage sight and sound at the moment, not smell! Surprised

I've got the Samsung Gear VR, came free with the new phone. It's pretty awesome.
