I certainly don't expect us to make the 8 now, but looking at the ladder I realised that if the Saints, Bombers, Eagles and Dees were to lose 2 of their remaining 3 games, they would end up with 11 wins or 44 points. However, if we were to win all 3 of ours, we would end up with 11 1/2 wins on 46 points. |

I think the flame still flickers just a tad Rudeboy. The draw against Adelaide and the loss to GWS are hurting now. 6 more points and we'd be right there. We are capable of winning the next 3. I think the melb game might be the toughest for some reason. One at a time tho, hopefully a sore and sorry port adelaide this week. _________________ kymbo |

I don't care if we make the finals or not. What I care about is that we leave 100% effort out on the field when we come off. |

The Melbourne loss is the really damaging one in hindsight. We'd be above them if not for that. Bulldogs, Saints and Dons (Anzac day) were all also extremely winnable games against mid level teams we butchered. _________________ "We ain't gotta dream no more" |

I think we'll finish 8th
Crows 66
Tigers 60
Giants 60
Swans 56
Cats 54
Port 48
Dogs 48
Pies 46
The draw with the cows is priceless... makes % irrelevant

This is funny shit. Even if we beat Port, Melbourne play Saints and WCE at home to Blues so we will still be 6 points out with 2 rounds to play. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

provided we win all 3 i can't see us going past Essendon unless they lose in an upset to GC or Fremantle. Mel, St.K and WC we can get past. |

Yeah Essendon is still in the losing-games-they-should-win phase so it's possible that they'll drop one.
Damn... Adelaide, GWS, Melbourne. 2 1/2 games by 7 points total.... Then there was the Carlton abomination.
Shot ourselves in the foot this year. Had we won those games as we should have we would be up in 5th, 2 games clear of 9th.
On the bright side, it means that we are clearly getting close to finals action, even with all the underwhelming footy we've played |

Almost no chance of making it now, but we easily could have. Some key players missing at times and others coming back from long layoffs hurt us, as did missing some gilt-edged chances to win.
There's no doubt we're good enough to play finals in 2018. We were this year as well. With an even comp though, the margins for error are small and we fell on the wrong side this year. If we can add at last one more KPP and improve our forward line we can increase that margin in 2018.
Across the season we've been one of the most competitive teams and have not been embarrassed in any game. The next step is to further tighten our defense and structures and improve our forward line, everything else is in place. The question will be whether we've been waiting too long and improving too incrementally for Buckley to keep his job. I'm undecided on this, but leaning towards thinking he holds on, our failures this year have been personnel related: weak forward line and a defense finding its way (particularly early when we were playing Schade). _________________ Well done boys! |
