Best player we can get. Don't cared if he's a midfielder, don't care if he's a half-back bloody flanker, you ALWAYS pick the best and NEVER waste a precious first round pick on a second-best player.
It doesn't bloody MATTER if we have the best key forward in the country if our delivery into the front half is slow, inaccurate, and predictable.
Every player we take - EVERY player - needs to be able to deliver the pill laces out.
If the best player available with our pick happens to be a tall defender (or a tall forward), that's fine. Pick im. But be aware that talls take time and we won't get too much out of him before 2020 or 2021. Talented smalls can make a difference to your side even in their first year if they are good enough. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Any player we pick at 6 should make our best 22 on any line (except ruck). So the position doesn't really matter.
We could do with another tall or two, but with a pick that early you can't be that narrow. Maybe we have a slight leaning towards a tall, but nothing more than that. If the best player is clearly a non tall we definitely take him. At the moment the KPP prospects don't look great in this draft.
If we desperately want a tall, I'd be much happier to trade pick 6 for one that's had a couple years in the system. Lever would be a perfect get. I've got a feeling that we're that hungry for improvement in 2018 and this pick will be dealt anyway. Needs the right deal to be available though. _________________ Well done boys! |

I've been thinking along the same lines for a while. We can be build a team around him as a key forward, which we're crying out for along with a key defender.
Doubt we'd get him in this upcoming off-season period unless he wanted to force a move back to Victoria which might be possible considering the current crisis that the Suns are experiencing. He's out of contract at the end of 2018 which adds another layer to a possible move at some point in the future.
What would make it sweeter if we ever obtained him was that he supported Collingwood before he was drafted. That's a little extra incentive right there. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
