Interesting that Canavan and Xenophon were not contravening s 44(i) according to the High Court. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Try this.

I only skimmed it but the nub appears to be the taking reasonable measures to renounce foreign citizenship, and not knowing you were is no excuse.
basically onus on the person seeking election to check and take reasonable steps as required.
Relies heavily on historical intent and past decisions as precedent. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

To
A. Renounce ctizenship they didn't know they had.
B. Enquiring whether they were or were not eligible for Uk and/or NZ citizenship
C. I am travelling to Europe for a gap year. Please can I have a British passport before Brexit comes in so I can get around easier.

Malcolm Roberts replacement sounds like quite the character.
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2017/oct/27/malcolm-roberts-to-run-for-queensland-parliament
Quote: | Anning released a fiery press release on Friday afternoon, criticising Roberts and demanding loyalty from Hanson.
I fully understand that in recent weeks Pauline needed to express public support for Roberts as long as he occupied a senate spot, however that naturally changes with the high court decision, he said.
I have given Pauline unqualified loyalty and supported her for more than 20 years, so naturally I expect this to be reciprocated if and when I am declared elected.
He said the outcome vindicated Hansons decision to refer the issue of Roberts citizenship to the high court.
It is however infuriating that the Australian taxpayer has had to stump up millions of dollars to pay for a court decision, just because five politicians couldnt get their act together to do what was required by the constitution, he said.
I can certainly assure all Queenslanders that before I nominated I took all steps to ensure I was eligible to be a senator, and obviously as a candidate for an Australian nationalist party, not being a foreigner is a pretty important part of that. |
She really knows how to pick them, doesnt she?
Edit: he actually manages to make Roberts look like a moderate.
