But is it solely recruiting or is player development and game plan a part of it. There is more to the story. Every team is a mixture of players with strengths and weaknesses. It is what you do with them, how you develop them and getting the best out of them that counts.
My theory is that our game style results in stagnated play, little opportunity for players to play to their strengths and the game seems unnatural to them in it current structure. Our players have basically lost their instinct and their natural abilities have been nullified to some extent. |
Spot on. The game plan is a high possession, highly skilled game plan. When you don't have skilled kicks, it's not the right one. Not to mention this was a premiership game plan, 2 years ago.
He can't kick it for them that's true, but he can set up the game to complement the side he has and minimise our deficiencies.
A new coach will improve this side but until we fix the kpp, we won't contend. _________________ The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after. |

On playing players to their strengths and yes I know only still 20yrs old young Maynard still has time to be developed --not his desire or commitment which he has lots of but his disposal
He has shown a strength as a run straight at goal and score a goal so is this his strength
That's just my opinion as to putting player where best suited for team _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

100% Correct. There was one passage of play we had 3 howlers in a row. I actually couldn't believe what I was seeing |

No secret. Every side has one or two players that can't kick. We have about half a dozen players who can't kick. One of those will be enjoying a holiday this weekend. Crisp, another, should be banned from ever playing on the backline again. Maynard should be moved onto the wing from this weekend. He's actually a good kick but you wouldn't know it watching him last weekend. Langdon was a bad kick, but looked ok in his game against Essendon. Just shows you can change if your basic kicking technique is ok and you keep practicing to perfect your kicking and eliminate the mistakes. Treloar is another with a good kicking technique but has sore groins at the moment and can't kick. Adams is a gauge on how we are playing. If he has his kicking shoes on he's a good kick. Under pressure he's a terrible kick. Jonathon Brown has been spoilt by having played along side some of the greatest kicks to have ever played the game. In the real AFL world it's not like that. |

Had Barry Price giving kicking lessons to two 18yr olds -Brown and Daicos
Can a 20yr old like Maynard enroll in Bubba Price class.s
Rate Barry in top five excellent kicks and decision making at Collingwood _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Barry Price - a midfielder who could use the ball better than Pendlebury - don't tell the coach, in case he tries to recruit Bazza (he's not that much older than Wells and he gets injured less). |

Barry Price played in both the 1970 grand final and the 1979 night premiership, the only bloke to do so. So he played in Collingwood's blackest day and arguably, brightest night! |

If you watch Maynard closely some of his kicks are sublime. Some of his passes into the forward line over the last couple of months are been low, fast and pinpoint accurate.
On Saturday I was sitting there dumb founded when he kicked three clangers in a row that really cost us opposition goals and took all the momentum out of our game. It was all downhill from there.
The kid has a lot of heart, has a tough edge to him and gives his all. I think he should play on the wing or in the half forward line. He is certainly worth persisting with. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |

I am thinking Bucks is thinking the new age player capable of multiple rolls
Like say a Dangerfield or a Martin--play agressive from midfield back or forward but in the sides selected this year we have no such player _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

We've been banging on about the inept disposal level on this forum for about three years now, i'd say.
JB isn't telling us anything we didn't already know. |
In fact, all these football 'experts' are just now realising what most punters on Nicks have been saying for sometime. _________________ VOTE NO. Cancel the Cancel Culture. |

But the people who should realise what Nicks and supporters in general are saying ain't either paying attention to the football world and remaining beligerant
Sure they are the ones paid to create success but facts of win to loss ratio is damning to their efforts _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |
